Conical Hat Workshop: Discover Traditional Vietnamese Hat-Making Art

Due to the lengthy process of crafting a conventional Vietnamese conical hat, the Conical Hat workshop offers you the opportunity to create a slightly undersized variant, with a maximum of 14 layers rather than the standard 16. Family friendly, Not touristy, Very educational - Even though the title says Conical Hat Workshop, Hoa, the owner, does so much more. This is such a great place for families to experience true Vietnamese crafts and culture. We attended the Mid-Autumn Workshop. My three grandchildren (g11, b9 & b6) and I spent a lovely afternoon making cellophane lanterns and Moon Cakes along with other Vietnamese participants. Making the Moon Cakes was really fun and delicious for the kids! We all enjoyed each other’s company and they even surprised my granddaughter with a present and sang happy birthday to her when they found out it was her birthday. This was a special treat for her as we have recently moved here and don’t know a lot of people yet. However, if you are visiting and want a truly educational and fun event that is kid friendly and is not touristy trust Hoa and her staff. Speaking of her staff they all have a good command of English and the person teaching about cellophane lanterns is an expert and is incredibly patient and knowledgeable. We plan on spending more time in her workshops in the future as there are many to choose from. Please consider this when traveling in HCMC.
