- Sao Viet Bus - Start the journey by driving past the narrow and bustling 36 guild streets of the Old Quarter, originally named for the 36 trades or crafts that established themselves in this area north of the lake, producing high-quality goods for the royals in the Thang Long Citadel nearby. Today, only a few streets continue to sell the same products, but some have preserved the traditions of the past, making them a joy to explore on foot with a camera.
- French Quarter - Explore the French Quarter by driving along some of the most beautiful tree-lined avenues, where moss-covered colonial buildings and villas are hidden behind.
- Huu Tiep Lake and the Downed B-52 - Catch a glimpse of some zigzag alleys and sites related to the December 1972 bombing of Hanoi, including the B52 lake, where the body of a US aircraft can be seen, and the John McCain monument now standing on the bank of the West Lake.
- Long Bien Bridge - Admire the Guinness record mosaic wall before crossing over the Long Bien Bridge, which connects the two banks of the Red River. The bridge was constructed between 1899-1902 by the architects Daydé & Pillé of Paris and opened in 1903. Before North Vietnam’s independence in 1954, it was known as the Paul-Doumer Bridge, named after Paul Doumer, the Governor-General of French Indochina and later French president.
- Train Street - Hop on your Vespa to visit Train Street, where a railway track runs through narrow residential streets and is still in use. Twice a day, a speeding train passes through, brushing past shop fronts and houses. Residents are aware of the train’s schedule and move their market stalls, playing children, and shop displays away from the track just minutes before its arrival, resuming normal activities once the train has passed. Your guide will time your visit to witness this remarkable event.
- Hanoi Shopping Point - Vietnamese Coffee Kingdom - Visit a local café dating back to 1946, where you can sample Hanoi’s best specialties, including Ca Phe Trung (egg coffee) and sunflower seeds, before returning to your hotel.
