Ha Giang - Guests are collected from their Hanoi hotel to begin the journey north through the Red River Delta. Lunch is enjoyed in Tuyen Quang Town, known for its lush green tea plantations. Continuing on, arrival in Ha Giang Town is around 18:00, where dinner is served, and guests stay overnight with a Thai family in their traditional home.
Ha Giang – Dong Van (B, L, D)
Ha Giang - After obtaining permits from the Ha Giang immigration office, guests are taken through a series of breathtaking passes with stunning views, reaching the mountain town of Tam Son for lunch. Post-lunch, the tour proceeds to the H’mong palace, once owned by the “King of the H’mong,” showcasing a blend of French and Chinese architectural styles. The palace, once notorious for storing opium and weapons, was abandoned in the 1950s, with the family descendants now residing in France and Canada. The journey continues to Dong Van, arriving at 18:00 for dinner and an overnight hotel stay.
Quan Ba Heaven Gate - Quan Ba Heaven Gate is a must-visit tourist spot in Ha Giang, the country’s northernmost region. Also known as Quan Ba Pass, it is located in Quan Ba District, Ha Giang Province, Vietnam. At over 1500m high and about 43km from Ha Giang city, it marks the start of “The Road of Happiness” and serves as the first gateway to the Dong Van Ky rock plateau.
Dinh Vua Meo - The H’mong palace, once belonging to the “King of the H’mong,” was designed by French and Chinese architects, resulting in a unique style fusion. The palace, infamous for opium and weapon storage, was abandoned in the 1950s, with the family descendants now living in France and Canada.
Dong Van – Ma Pi Leng Pass – Meo Vac – Cao Bang (B, L, D)

The descent into Meo Vac Valley includes a market visit for lunch and shopping before concluding the day in Cao Bang, with dinner at a local restaurant and an overnight hotel stay.

Meo Vac - Situated in the Dong Van karst plateau park of Ha Giang province, Meo Vac is a highland district in Vietnam’s northernmost region, offering majestic views and a tranquil atmosphere. Meo Vac is a charming destination for tourists interested in exploration and adventure. The village lies in a small valley at the base of rocky mountains, with a karst landscape primarily formed by limestone and the Nho Que River flowing through. The area is largely used for agriculture, covering about 12,100 ha, with locals cultivating medicinal plants, herbs, and ginseng. In recent years, the government has focused on developing tourism in Meo Vac.
Cao Bang – Ban Gioc Waterfall – Cao Bang (B, L, D)
Cao Bang - Many guests consider this day the tour’s highlight, visiting Ban Gioc Waterfall, one of Vietnam’s most stunning sites. After breakfast, a two-hour drive leads to this breathtaking cascade on the China border, the world’s 4th largest frontier waterfall and Southeast Asia’s largest. Guests have ample time to explore, photograph, and enjoy the views, even taking a bamboo boat close enough to feel the waterfall’s spray. The tour then proceeds to Nguom Ngao Cave, featuring impressive rock formations shaped by millennia of erosion. After exploring the cave, the journey continues to the Nung village of Quan Uyen, where Mr. Hung Dao, a local blacksmith, hosts dinner and an overnight stay.
Ban Gioc Waterfall - Detian Falls - Located in Cao Bang province, Ban Gioc Waterfalls is a true natural wonder of Vietnam. This enchanting waterfall presents a breathtaking spectacle as pristine waters cascade tier by tier, harmonizing with lush landscapes. Its splendor showcases the captivating beauty that Cao Bang offers its visitors.
Cao Bang – Ba Be National Park (B, L, D)
Ba Be National Park - After breakfast, a three-hour drive leads to Cho Ra Village for lunch. From there, guests board a boat to cross the lake and travel up the Nang River, reaching Puong Cave, a 300-meter tunnel through a mountain. Weather permitting, guests can swim before continuing to the Tay village of Coc Toc, where Mr. Linh and his family welcome guests for dinner and an overnight stay.
Ba Be Lake - As a national park, biosphere reserve, Ramsar site, flooded forest on limestone mountains, and ASEAN heritage park, Ba Be Lake is one of the world’s 20 largest natural freshwater lakes needing protection. It is home to diverse flora, fauna, and ethnic minorities.
Ba Be National Park – Hanoi (B, L)
Ba Be National Park - After a home-cooked breakfast at the homestay, guests enjoy a riverfront stroll to nearby villages like Pac Ngoi, followed by a short hike to a viewpoint offering impressive mountain views. The tour then visits Hua Ma Cave, known for its numerous stalactites and stalagmites. After the cave visit, the return journey to Hanoi includes a stop at Dog Flower Pass for photos of the stunning rice terrace vistas. The tour concludes with arrival in Hanoi around 6pm, with drop-off at the hotel.
Hua Ma Cave - Located within Ba Be National Park, about 80 kilometers from Bac Kan City, Hua Ma Cave offers a peaceful scenery soon after leaving the city. The mountains play hide-and-seek with the dawn fog, and the first sun rays create a perfect painting with smiling local farmers, their cattle, and market stalls along the road.
