Under the guidance of talented directors, this distinctive traditional art form of water puppetry, unique to Vietnam, revitalizes the stage. It effortlessly combines tradition with a hint of modern flair, while staying closely connected to contemporary lifestyles. Water puppetry has a history spanning over a thousand years, originating around the 11th century. During the annual rice harvest festivals, farmers in the Red River Delta region would come together for folk singing, dancing, and other celebrations. The magic lies in the puppets themselves. They are crafted from buoyant fig wood and coated with lacquer. Puppeteers skillfully control the puppet arms using bamboo rods and strings.
