Travel towards the UAE-Oman border to reach Hatta, an ancient trading settlement featuring a historic fort and rock pools, nestled in the rugged Hajar Mountains. Observe the changing scenery from open plains to dunes and rocky mountain slopes, and after approximately two hours, arrive at Hatta Heritage Village. This site is a reconstruction of a traditional mountain village from before the 20th century, consisting of homes and structures made from mud, palm leaves, reeds, and stone. Accompanied by your guide, explore the houses, mosques, and watchtowers, and view exhibits of weaponry, handicrafts, and traditional attire that illustrate life here until the mid-1900s. Discover Hatta Fort while learning about the region’s history, then re-enter your 4x4 to delve further into the desert. Proceed to Jebel Maleihah, also known as Fossil Rock. This prominent rocky formation rises dramatically from the sands and is named for the numerous ancient marine fossils embedded in its slopes. Step out to search for these ancient fossils — impressions of shells and tiny marine creatures that inhabited the ocean floor when the Arabian Peninsula was submerged millions of years ago. Next, visit nearby Camel Rock. Capture photos of the desert rock formation resembling a camel, and then return to Dubai, concluding your day trip at your hotel.

The initial photo opportunity will be at the renowned Fossil & Camel Rock, featuring unique rock formations nestled among towering sand dunes. The Honeybee Garden marks your first stop in Hatta, where you can delve into the intriguing art of beekeeping and honey production. Relish a picnic breakfast amidst the Arabian Desert’s beauty. Proceed with your journey to Hatta Heritage Village, where you have leisure time to explore the country’s history at this open-air museum. The final stop takes you through the rugged Hajjar Mountains to Hatta Dam, offering breathtaking views. Afterwards, you will return to the City.

• The Dubai desert can get cooler in the evenings during winter, so we recommend you bring a light jacket and closed shoes. Please wear sports shoes for safe sand boarding.
