Discover the secrets of the Sphinx, one of the largest monolithic statues in history. After capturing beautiful photos, proceed to Sakkara to see the step pyramid of King Zoser, the oldest pyramid in Egypt. Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids - The Step Pyramid, the tomb of the Third Dynasty ruler Djoser or Zoser, was built by Imhotep and is considered the earliest major stone structure in Egypt. It evolved from the large mastabas of the First and Second Dynasties, with six steps added to the original mastaba. The pyramid stands 60 meters high and is made of locally quarried clay sandstone. Entry is no longer permitted due to safety concerns. The interior chambers and passages were used for the burial of the King’s close relatives and for storing grave goods.
