- Giza Plateau - Begin the day at 8:00 am or earlier with a pickup from Cairo International Airport by an expert tour guide. The guide will welcome guests with a sign displaying their name and transfer them in a private air-conditioned vehicle to start the Cairo layover tour. The tour includes a visit to the Giza Pyramids & Sphinx, where visitors can see nine pyramids, including the Great Pyramid of King Cheops, the tallest pyramid ever built in Egypt and one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Sphinx, representing King Kefren with a human head and lion’s body, and the Valley Temple, where the mummification process took place, are also highlights.
- Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - Khufu’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, now buried beneath the village of Nazlet el-Samman. Although diabase paving and nummulitic limestone walls have been discovered, the site remains unexcavated. The valley temple was linked to a causeway, largely destroyed during the village’s construction.
- Khafre’s Pyramid - Khafre’s pyramid complex features a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple yielded several statues of Khafre, discovered in a well by Mariette in 1860 and during later excavations by Sieglin (1909–10), Junker, and Reisner.
- Menkaure Pyramid - Menkaure’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple once housed several statues of Menkaure. During the 5th Dynasty, a smaller ante-temple was added to the valley temple. The mortuary temple also contained several statues of Menkaure.
- Great Sphinx - Visit the Sphinx Statue, where the guide will assist in capturing memorable photos, selecting the best locations for photography.
Lunch is included at a local restaurant, though beverages are not included.
- Dahshur Lake - Continue the Cairo Layover Tour with a visit to the Dahshur Pyramids, where King Senfrue, founder of the 4th dynasty, built the first true pyramid. Initially constructing a Bent Pyramid, he succeeded on his second attempt with the Red Pyramid. Senfrue was also the father of King Cheops, owner of the Great Pyramid at Giza. Afterward, guests will be transferred back to Cairo International Airport for final departure.
- Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids - Continue the tour to the Sakkara area, where King Djosser made the first attempt to build a pyramid-shaped tomb using limestone. Known as the Sakkara Pyramid or Step Pyramid, the area also features a spacious court for Heb-Sed celebrations and a cemetery rich with pharaonic decorations, drawings, and paintings.
- Pyramid of Teti - The Pyramid of Teti, located in Saqqara, Egypt, is a fascinating ancient structure built as the final resting place for Pharaoh Teti. It stands as a testament to the ingenuity and architectural skill of the Old Kingdom, attracting visitors worldwide with its impressive size and historical significance. Explore the pyramid’s chambers and corridors to uncover the mysteries of ancient Egypt and immerse in the rich history of this iconic landmark.
- Pyramid of Unas - The Pyramid of Unas, built in the 24th century BC for Pharaoh Unas, the ninth and final king of the Fifth Dynasty, is the smallest Old Kingdom pyramid. It is significant for the discovery of Pyramid Texts, spells for the king’s afterlife inscribed into its subterranean chambers. This tradition of funerary texts began with Unas’s pyramid and continued through the Old Kingdom and into the Middle Kingdom with the Coffin Texts, forming the basis of the Book of the Dead.
- Mastaba of Ti - The Mastaba of Ti is one of Saqqara’s most important archaeological sites, discovered by Auguste Mariette. The mastaba contains two serdabs, and its walls depict various scenes of everyday life.
- Memphis and Sakkara - The final sightseeing destination is Memphis City, the first and oldest capital of ancient Egypt, located on the eastern bank of the Nile. It was the living city for Egyptians from the 1st to the 10th dynasty and features open-air masterpieces such as statues of King Ramses II, the god Ptah, the goddess Sekhmet, incense-burning baskets, coffins, and the Egyptian calendar.
Guests will then be transferred back to Cairo International Airport for final departure.
