An amazing adventure! - What an amazing day! Our guide was very experienced and a wealth of information who never tired of answering our questions throughout the 14 hour day. Unlike a group tour we never had a time limit and could explore each location at our own pace. The waterfalls were amazing but the highlight for us were the black sand beach, diamond beach and Glacier Lagoon, all were other worldly places like we've never seen before. How many other chances will you have to hold an iceberg? Even two teenagers agreed it was worth every minute spent in the van.

Seals, icebergs, waterfalls, basalt columns, and even a spot for great burgers & fries! - John was a fabulous guide! The Glacier Lagoon is 5 hours from Reykjavik, so having a guide that knows a lot about Iceland and history, politics, geology and the landscape makes for a really great day. John arranged the day so that we had ample chances to get out of the minivan, see interesting sights, eat some really good food and snacks. My teenagers had a great time, and the van even had wi-fi! (lol)

Our guide was very gracious in answering the million questions we had as well! Lol we laughed and talked the whole time! The breaks were perfect and well spread out! South Coast in a day - worth it! - Dan was informative and entertaining, he was accommodating and planned the trip well, such that we could have a short detour to see the puffins at the black sand beach. Excellent driving and health/safety measures. The trip to Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach was out of this world!

Explore Jokulsarlon and the Iceland’s South Coast for a Unique Experience - This ranks as one of our best ever TripAdvisor booked tours. Our guide and driver, Jon, was superb, with excellent knowledge and driving skills. His explanations of Icelandic culture and the sights made the trip a great adventure and excellent first exposure to Iceland. He even added some sights that were not part of the expected itinerary. His recommended stops for meals and refreshments were a delight, and given that this was a private tour, we could enjoy the sights at our leisure before moving on. If you wish to have a unique and truly rewarding Icelandic experience, you’ll not be disappointed. Thanks again Jon!

Glacier Lagoon - Beautiful colors and shapes of these ice burgs. The area is well marked and easy to find. Very windy!

Amazing experience - Fantastic day. The early start and very long trip was rewarded walking behind a waterfall and by the amazing ice lagoon experience. Never thought I'd see icebergs up close! Recommended

Seeing the glacier and... - Seeing the glacier and lagoon. Disappointing that she didn’t get to go on the boat - it wasn’t open for the season yet. We only found out the day before. It’s a long drive - the black beaches are nice.

Choose another company - Private Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon Tour – Duration time on confirmed booking: -14 hours (Sunday 24th of May, 2025) Pick up from the Cruise ship in Reykjavík. On pick up the company had given us a smaller and much less comfortable car than we had booked (we had booked a Mercedes V Class) and it wasn't until we mentioned this to Aron, our driver was the car able to be changed to what we had booked and received confirmation for. This delayed our departure for around 30 mins. On the dock, before we entered the vehicle , I approached Aron and let him know that I had a request. I wanted to be back in time to go to Costco, which closed at 6pm, as it was Sunday. (We had been on the ship for 7 ‘at sea’ days). Aron said we would need to cut back on the time at the stops and also that we would have to eat a snack and lunch in the car, to make up the time. Which we were happy to do. Aron stopped just out of town at a bakery and we bought snacks and rolls for lunch. There was never any mention of an ipad or wifi and we got offered one bottle of water each. First stop on the itinerary: Seljalandsfoss. (waterfall) Aron did not offer to stop, slow down or take pictures and consequently there was no opportunity to ‘visit the waterfall’ or ‘get up-close and personal’. And we definitely did not get the chance to ‘walk behind this magnificent waterfall’ or ‘take pictures from underneath to waterfall’. Yet again we drove past the Skógafoss waterfall and again this was in contradiction to the advertising but we we’re making up time to go to Costco. Well…that's what we thought! We saw several volcanos on the drive including the ‘infamous Eyjafjallajökull’. With the exclusion of Aron’s two stops to purchase himself coffee, at this stage we had our first stop (excluding the bakery) for about 20 mins, at Reynisfjara, the black sand beach and basalt columns. We were not taken to the photogenic Vík í Myrdal, as promised in the advertising. Again we thought, ‘we’re making up time to go to Costco’. Saw the ‘green lava fields, barren deserts of black sand, sea cliffs, and scenic glacial river’ as we drove past. Finally we arrived at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach, where we spent about 30 minutes. Again we thought, ‘we’re making up time to go to Costco’. Then Aron told us, we would not get back in time for Costco!…. On the way back to Reykjavik Aron stopped to have his lunch and a bit later for him to purchase another coffee, his fourth for the day, that we know about. We got back to the ship less than 10 hours – instead of the 14 hours that were confirmed for the trip. In hindsight it was very clear that he had no intention of taking us to Costco (a short distance from the Cruise terminal) yet he intentionally left out significant portions of the trip, which we had paid for and would liked to have visited if he had of initially informed us that there would be no time for the shops. He did offer to take us across the road from his last coffee purchase (we sat in the car and waited for him yet again) to “see the view of the city from the pretty church”. A very long and silent trip back to the Cruise depot ensued. Ps: Aron overtook around eight cars and a horse float, with trailer on a blind bend just before the Gestloft turn off! So dangerous! We did contact the company via email on Sunday when we returned from the trip and despite receiving two emails from them requesting a review we have not had a response to our concerns. In short, the tour was a total rip off. The only thing that was good about it was the beautiful sunny day.
