• Senate Square - Known as Senaatintori in Finnish, Senate Square is our meeting point and a key tourist attraction, marking the beginning of modern Helsinki’s history. Here, we will explore the three stunning buildings surrounding us!
• Helsinki Cathedral - The Helsinki Cathedral, also known as the White Cathedral, is the city’s most iconic landmark, often featured in photographs. If open, we can enter to learn about Finland’s religious culture and possibly enjoy some music. Note: We avoid entering during summer due to a €10 entry fee. It’s closed on Sundays, most Saturdays, and public holidays.
• Kauppatori - “Torille” is a popular Finnish phrase meaning “to the market”! Let’s visit the market square to understand its significance, discover Finnish cuisine, and find souvenirs to take home.
• Allas Sea Pool - We will provide a comprehensive guide to the Finnish sauna experience and recommend the best saunas in town. Discover why Finns are passionate about saunas! Located by the Gulf of Finland, Allas sauna offers a lovely sea view, and we’ll discuss Suomenlinna fortress island, a highly recommended UNESCO heritage site to visit post-tour.
• Uspenskin Cathedral (Uspenskin Katedraali) - Why does Helsinki have two cathedrals? This one differs from Helsinki Cathedral; let’s find out why! We’ll admire this beautiful cathedral from afar during our market square visit.
• Havis Amanda - Arguably the most famous and iconic statue in Helsinki!
• The Esplanadi Park - Known locally as Helsinki’s Champs-Élysées, it houses the Kappeli restaurant and Espa music stage. Runeberg’s statue, Finland’s national poet, stands in the center. We’ll also share some fun facts about Finland here.
• Fazer Café Kluuvikatu - The first café bar in Helsinki, possibly the reason for Finns’ love of coffee and coffee breaks!
• Aleksanterinkatu - Aleksi is a main street in the city center, lined with beautiful art deco buildings, each with fascinating stories about Finnish culture!
• Helsinki Central Railway Station - This central train station is a stunning city center landmark, guarded by four massive statues with many tales to tell! We’ll also pass by two other beautiful buildings: Finland’s National Theater and the Ateneum Museum (Finland’s National Gallery).
• Kansalaistori - This modern district is surrounded by beautiful post-modern buildings, showcasing why Helsinki was named the World Design Capital in 2012!
• Central Library Oodi - Oodi Library is the tour’s highlight, redefining the concept of a library. It’s unlike any library you’ve seen before and is sure to amaze you!
