Highly recommend!!! - Wow! What an amazing experience for me and my family. We were picked up on time from our hotel in Old Town Hoí Ân and then we picked up (in a very organised fashion), additional participants on the way to meet up with our tour guide Trang. Trang spoke English very well and explained everything to all of us. We were the only family there as there were lots of couples in our group. Trang included my children and sparked up conversations with time. Highly recommend her if you are looking for an engaging guide. Trang walked us through the market and took her time to explain all of the food items, and answered questions we have on some different items in the marketplace. The in-depth knowledge of the history of certain items made the tour much more intriguing. Trang then bought us to ride the basket boats which was a great treat. We got to see other folks spinning in the baskets and also got to fish for some crab. My daughter caught one briefly before it jumped off. It was just the right amount of time on the boats. Then we were bought to our cooking class which floats (still) above the water where you were just passing by in the basket boat. Here you are welcomed by the smiling staff and then your class begins. We made some delicious fresh rolls, vegetable pancake, beef noodle salad and beef phó. Trang took her time explaining how to cook each item and we got to eat them immediately after each dish was complete. All the while she was attentively explaining why certain ingredients are used in order to balance against other flavours. When the class ended we were asked if we wanted to be dropped off at our hotel or the city center- which was a nice option. They also gifted us some traditional cooking chopsticks!! Lovely touch. All-in-all, the food was amazing, our guide was perfect and I highly recommend this tour. Our family will remember this forever!

A fantastic experience. - Such a well organised experience with our tour guide and chef Trang. She made the whole shopping in the local market for ingredients and the cooking experience so much fun. The venue for the cooking class is awesome, set on stilts in the middle of a river jungle, reached by little coracle boats. After instruction from Trang, we cooked four dishes which were all delicious. After finishing our class we were given complimentary cooking chop sticks and the recipes were emailed over to us. We can’t wait to try out our new found skills back at home! The whole experience was such good value and there was nothing that we didn’t enjoy.

Would recommend - Unfortunately didn’t get our guides name, she was amazing. Her English was great and she was so clear with everything she explained. The tour was a perfect length, she demonstrated the cooking very clearly and assisted us throughout our own cooking too. Only downfall was due to the crowds at the market, it was hard to keep up and sometimes we missed what she was saying.

Great experience with Hon and company. - Hon was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and warm. His cooking instruction was clear and easy to follow. The menu was simple but delicious. The boat tour was fantastically clever and unexpected. The food was excellent and the market trip was very informative. We loved the entire thing. And after, we didn’t have room for dinner. You will eat a lot and enjoy the meals along the way.

Bay Mau Cooking Tour with Trang - Had a wonderful cooking tour today with Trang. She collected us from our hotel and took us to the market to pick out the ingredients. Then we had a very entertaining journey by basket boat to the restaurant. We cooked 4 dishes in total and passion fruit juice was served for free throughout the four hours. Trang speaks English very well and demonstrated everything very clearly before allowing us to try everything by ourselves. We are very happy and full and got a cookbook and chopsticks as a souvenir. Highly recommend .

Convinient that we could... - Convinient that we could do three activities in one program. Overall good and cooking was fun but it would have been better if the explanation part was shorter. The guide told us so many alternative ingredients and cooking methods but usually tourists come to enjoy the cooking not to really learn it to cook it when we go home. We totally understand she was doing her best and appreciate it but the weather was so hot and humid so one of the participants got really upset, started screaming and using swear words. On the way back, the crazy lady screamed at the driver, stopped the car, and disappeared in the middle of nowhere. The guide followed her. I know it just was a bad luck for us but it could have been better if we were told what happened after that since we all experienced it together, the experience was ruined, so... I guess people there deserved to know what happened but didn't hear from the guide since then.
