Amazing cooking class with insight into village life - Stop looking at other cooking classes and book this one! We had such a wonderful day with Thom, a truly unique cooking experience. Taking the boat ride out to the island where Thom's family live was lovely - cool breeze on the river and plenty to look at as we passed fishing spots, farms and houses. A short walk between some local shrimp farming ponds and through the village to Thom's grandma's house where we learned about traditional rice milling methods and made our own "rice milk". We steamed our own rice paper, then used it with the pork we marinated and barbequed on charcoal burners. We made a divine green papaya salad, then banh xeo, and cooked claypot marinated tuna steaks which we sat and ate together in the house. Plenty of time to wander around and explore the area, and Thom was happy to answer all the questions we had about village life, sharing her stories with us. Thom as also amazing capturing photos throughout the day as we cooked! We absolutely loved our experience and couldn't recommend it more highly! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A delicious experience in a beautiful setting - We had such a wonderful time at this cooking class! Our host was absolutely fantastic, warm, knowledgeable, and made everyone feel welcome from the start. We cooked a variety of dishes, and every single one turned out incredibly tasty. We especially appreciated that we got to take home the recipes, so we can recreate our favorites in our own kitchen. The location itself was also very special, beautiful, unique, and added to the overall experience. It was the perfect mix of learning, eating, and enjoying great company. Highly recommend!

You can cook great food with such a good instructor. - We have been to some good cooking classes in Asia. This was the best.
Easy to book. Interesting 40 minute boat ride to small island in the estuary. Interesting information about night fishing on the way.
Thom the cooking instructor is cheerful, friendly and very informative about the food she shows us how to cook and its history.
Three courses pork skewers or eggplant, papaya salad and Ban Xeo eaten as you finish them under her expert tuition. Then clay pot tuna taken to the table to eat together with rice and a taste of rice wine.
Very nice desert.
Sitting with fans on made it a very comfortable cooking experience on a hot day.
Thom and her team deserve 100% for efficiency and attention to detail.

My Grandma’s Home cooking class - I had the most amazing experience at My Grandma’s Home Cooking Class in Hoi An! 🌿🍤 We learned how to make rice milk, rice paper pancakes, shrimp & fish dishes, and a fresh papaya–carrot salad.
One of the highlights was discovering how Vietnamese cuisine uses so many kinds of herbs as an essential part of every meal . Among them are fish mint, coriander, water spinach, and more. 🌱
The whole experience was fantastic! Our guide, Tom, was incredibly friendly and took the time to chat with everyone. She also captured plenty of photos of us cooking, which made it extra special.
The host, the food, and the venue were authentic, welcoming, and absolutely lovely. Full of smiles, laughter, and fun. Even though it cost $54, it was worth every cent for the knowledge, the atmosphere, and the memories. 💛
Highly recommend!
