The Vietnam’s Heroic Mother Statue - At 09:30, the Vietnamese Heroic Mother Statue in Tam Ky stands as a tribute to Nguyen Thi Thu, affectionately known as Thu Mother or Me Thu. She was a local woman whose family, including her husband, sons, and daughters, bravely fought or perished in the French and American wars in Vietnam. Born in 1904 and passing away on December 10, 2010, she had 12 children, comprising 1 daughter (the eldest) and 11 sons. Nine of her sons sacrificed their lives for Vietnam’s independence and reunification. Her first child, Le Thi Tri, is also recognized as a Vietnam heroic mother, having lost her husband and two children in the war. Additionally, her home gardens served as a refuge for regional communist party leaders, and today, this house is a historical site.
