Vietnamese traditions and culture: a wonderful day of joy and laughter - My 20-year-old daughter and I recently took Hung Le Travel’s Wet Rice Farming and Private Round Boat Tour from our location in Da Nang. It was one of the best days we had in Vietnam, all thanks to special experiences that our guide, Home and our driver, Philip, arranged for us. We began with a trip to the beautiful Thanh Ha Terra Cotta Park, which was a village that has been producing beautiful ceramics for 300 years. We began by touring the ceramics museum and then moved on to making our own pottery pieces, under the close supervision and guidance of very patient potters. I was a little intimidated at first, as I’d never made pottery before, but everyone was so gracious and patient, it was a really fun experience – and at the end, we got to take our pottery pieces home with us. We then moved on to the wet rice farming portion of the tour where a rice farmer husband and wife team introduced us to the traditional practices used for generations to grow and harvest rice. While modern rice farming practices are a little different, this experience was not only educational, it was just plain fun: from riding the buffalo to trying to plow and plant rice grains, to feeding the buffalo and catching a fish in the rice paddy (with our hands!), I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard in a long, long time; sharing that experience with Home, the farmer and his wife was very, very special. After the wet rice farming, we moved on to the final stop of the day: a 45-minute ride in a round coconut boat through a coconut grove. Our boat “captain” was so awesome: she had us take so many great photos that we never would have thought of by ourselves; she had us catching numerous little fish with traditional fishing nets, and she even caught a little crab for us to see. So fun! We finished the day with a lovely lunch of traditional cau lau before heading back to the hotel. This was our fourth tour with Home, Philip and Hung Le Travel – and it was just as wonderful as every other experience we’ve had with them. This day, in particular, was amazing, as we gained so much insight into the traditions and cultures of Vietnam and we met so many wonderful Vietnamese people. And through it all, it was a day full of joy, shared memories and laughter. It’s a day we will never forget!

fun experience with great hosts! - I recently went on this tour with my brother, and it was a cool experience from start to finish. We had the chance to plant rice, ride a water buffalo and enjoy a ride in a coconut boat where we caught fish and crabs. The day ended with a fun coffee-making class and homemade lunch. Everyone on the tour was incredibly helpful and kind. Our guides were Tony, Lan, and a chị who took us on the coconut boat (I forgot her name but she taught us a lot and made sure we had a good time!!) They were all charismatic, friendly and happy to answer any questions we had. They even helped us take plenty of photos along the way, which we really appreciated. I learned a lot and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an interactive and memorable adventure!

Have you ever patted a buffalo …. - My wife and I had a terrific experience on the tour . The rice farm was really interesting I would never expect in my wildest dreams to ride , pat and feed a buffalo but we did today .He was a beautiful animal. As well we got to do some planting . It was a great chance to learn a little about rice farming and to see where the grain has its beginning.. The banana boat was a lot of fun . The boot spinning is incredible as was throwing the fish netting . No luck with the crabs though. Finally the meal was great . We had a traditional Hoi An Cao Lao which is pork , noodles and lettuce along with Vietnamese iced coffee . I highly recommend. A big thanks to our guide Tony who was so friendly and knowledgeable and our hosts along the way..

Overpriced and disappointing - I recently booked this tour expecting a 4-hour experience, but unfortunately, it fell quite short. The entire tour lasted only 2 hours, and several key experiences that were advertised were either extremely brief or missing altogether. The buffalo ride was just a 5-minute loop next to the rice fields, we didn’t catch fish as promised, and we weren’t offered the iced coffee that was included in the description. There were also no explanations or insights given during the visit to the rice fields, which made the experience feel rushed and somewhat superficial. While the staff was friendly and courteous, the overall tour felt unorganized and significantly overpriced. For what was delivered, a local agency could have easily offered this at half the price—or less. Disappointing overall.
