- Loch Ness Region - Begin an amazing day with Tony by embarking on a picturesque journey along the East side of Loch Ness. You’ll pause to hear the authentic tale of St. Columba and the earliest recorded eyewitness account of a large aquatic creature that attacked one of his followers attempting to retrieve a boat. Stand in the very area, approximately 50 meters, where St. Columba stood over 1,400 years ago.
- Urquhart Castle - After boarding your vehicle, head to Urquhart Castle for a fantastic photo opportunity while Tony shares the history of the Fraser and Grant Clans and their shifting allegiances during each Jacobite Rebellion from the late 1600s to the mid-1700s.
- Beauly Priory - Completed in the early 13th century by a group of monks who existed for about 50 years, this priory was featured in the storyline of Outlander when Jamie and Claire visited the seer in Beauly. Tony will recount the Priory’s history and its various ups and downs over the centuries.
- Culloden Battlefield - Walk the battlefield where Tony will explain and demonstrate the challenges of “the ‘45,” the term Jacobites still use to describe the last rebellion against the British Crown, which began on August 10, 1745, and concluded with the final battle on this field on April 16, 1746. Here, you can view the graves of the various Clans who fell that day, including the Frasers. Lunch will be provided here.
- Fort George - As Tony mentioned in his introduction, you’ll visit Fort George for a delightful scenic walk around the largest surviving Artillery Fort in Europe. Initially built to house a large British Army force to prevent another Jacobite uprising, it remains a fully operational military barracks. The Black Watch is currently stationed there, and when they depart in 2029, it will no longer serve as a military establishment. While at the Fort, you can also explore the Regimental Museum of Tony’s Regiment, The Queen’s Own Highlanders (Seaforth and Camerons).
- Clava Cairns - Clava Cairns, the inspiration for Diana Gabaldon’s Craig Na Dune in Outlander, features stones that transport her and her family through the centuries, serving as props for the show. Tony offers his own interpretation of what these ancient stones signify, and while there, you’ll see his reasoning as he explains his theory. There are no historical records or documentation; we only know they are older than the Pyramids of Egypt.
