- Seenigama Muhudu Viharaya - Seenigama Muhudu Devalaya is situated near the Colombo - Galle main road, just before reaching the city of Hikkaduwa. This Devalaya is dedicated to Devol God and is approximately 300 years old, although some believe it to be over 1000 years old, despite the lack of concrete evidence. While many visitors only go to the devalaya on the mainland, the main devalaya is located on a nearby island, accessible only by boat. Many locals traditionally stop here on their way south. People from various parts of the island visit to seek the blessings of God. Some perform special rituals and offerings, asking God to punish their adversaries, especially if they have suffered injustice. In such cases, they would grind chilies here to request God to curse those who wronged them.
- Meetiyagoda - Meetiyagoda is a renowned name in the realm of moonstone mining. It is Sri Lanka’s largest moonstone mine, and Sri Lankan moonstones are famous for their distinctive blue sheen, setting them apart from Indian moonstones. The finest and rarest moonstones possess an almost transparent, colorless body with a vibrant blue shine.
