- Cu Chi Tunnels - Situated in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, the Cu Chi Tunnels were a vast network of underground passages that played a crucial role during the Vietnam War. Built over several years, these tunnels extended over 250 kilometers and included various layers such as living quarters, kitchens, meeting rooms, hospitals, and even schools. They were manually excavated using basic tools like shovels, hoes, and picks, with the soil discreetly disposed of in nearby fields to avoid detection.
Navigating the Cu Chi Tunnels was intricate, requiring specific skills and training. The tunnels were narrow, only a few feet high, and often contained traps and obstacles like spike pits and hidden doors. Viet Cong soldiers were trained to move silently and swiftly through the tunnels, using their terrain knowledge to remain undetected.
- Ho Chi Minh City - Return to Ho Chi Minh City for lunch. Pho (Vietnamese beef/chicken noodle soup) will be delightfully served at a local restaurant.
