Also referred to as Cholon Chinatown Market, Binh Tay Market is housed in a two-storey building on Thap Moui Street. Visitors can find a selection of handicrafts, lacquerware, and textiles sold in bulk, although the variety is less compared to other more tourist-oriented markets in downtown Hanoi. Alongside its fascinating historical and cultural significance, Binh Tay Market provides a wonderful opportunity to experience local life and savor unique Vietnamese-Chinese delicacies.

• On Lang Pagoda - Quan Âm Pagoda is a Chinese-style Buddhist temple located on Lao Tu Street in Cho Lon, District 5, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Established in the 19th century, it is dedicated to Guanyin (Vietnamese: Quan Âm), the Chinese goddess of mercy and the Chinese form of the Indian bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara. The pagoda is popular among both Vietnamese and Chinese Buddhists; most inscriptions are in Chinese characters, with some Vietnamese labels added. Besides the veneration of Guanyin and the teachings of the Buddha, the pagoda also features Pure Land worship of the Amitabha Buddha (A Di Da Phat), elements of Taoism, and the folk worship of the Fujianese sea goddess Mazu, known as the “Queen of Heaven” (Thien Hau).

• Ho Thi Ky Flower Market - Located about 4km from the center of Saigon, Ho Thi Ky flower market is a new destination for travelers, especially those seeking the charm of old Saigon. Alongside the Saigon Floating Flower Market (Ben Binh Dong), Ho Thi Ky flower market is one of the two most renowned flower markets in Saigon; however, the Saigon Floating Flower Market is only open for Lunar New Year, making this market a popular choice for visitors.

The market operates all day, but it is most bustling in the early morning and evening (Ho Thi Ky night market). The flowers here mainly come from Dalat, the Mekong Delta, and countries like Hungary and the Netherlands.

From midnight to early morning, flowers from various places are brought here, where they are cut, trimmed, and packaged, then displayed on the shelves.

In the morning, traders arrive to purchase flowers, mostly in large quantities, to sell to flower shops and other markets. The scene is lively, showcasing a unique aspect of Saigon.

• Ba Thien Hau Temple - Ba Thien Hau Temple in Saigon is a Buddhist temple dedicated to the Chinese sea goddess, Mazu. It is believed that she protects and rescues ships and people at sea by flying around on a mat or cloud. Mazuism is linked with traditions and beliefs from both Taoism and Buddhism, forming a new belief system. This temple is located in ‘Cholon’ (Chinatown) in District 5, approximately a twenty-minute drive from the city center.

• FITO Museum - A unique blend of traditional and modern architecture, the museum features one ground floor and five upper floors housing 18 exhibition rooms.

Visitors can admire delicately carved wooden pictures with various captions illustrating different types of traditional medicine. Over 50 skilled engravers worked diligently for nearly three years to complete these carvings.

The museum’s architecture showcases typical features of traditional architecture from different regions of Vietnam, reflecting elements of the Northern house in the Red River basin, the Hue style, and some Cham ethnic minority styles. The Cham tower exhibits some Linga - ritual sculptures representing power, diligence, and vital force in the Cham religion.

Equipped with modern audio-visual technology, the museum regularly screens “A Century of Health Care Experiences,” a documentary about the history of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine.

• Chinatown (Cho Lon) - District 5 - Ho Chi Minh City’s Cholon is Vietnam’s largest Chinatown, with roots dating back to 1778. It holds significant historical and cultural importance. Chinese minorities sought refuge here from the Tay Son and had to rebuild the area twice after attacks, with an estimated 70% perishing while attempting to escape by boat. Those who survived settled and began selling various Chinese products. During the Vietnam War, Cholon was a thriving black market for US soldiers trading American Army supplies.

Today, the area is a popular tourist destination, attracting many Taiwanese and Chinese visitors. Cholon offers a glimpse of classical Chinese architecture reminiscent of the past, along with numerous Chinese restaurants.

• Chua Van Phat - Temple of Ten Thousand Buddhas - Situated in a secluded location, finding this tourist attraction can be challenging for first-time visitors, but the temple’s serene ambiance and vast collection of small statues are rewarding for those who make the effort. This multi-tiered temple includes a living area, a Buddhist “cemetery,” and a floor housing nearly 10,000 relics. Together, the relics and the overall architecture create a stunning sight, so be sure to take plenty of photos.

Established by French colonists who initially named it the Church of Saigon, the cathedral was built between 1863 and 1880. The name Notre-Dame Cathedral has been used since 1959. It features two bell towers, each reaching a height of 58 meters.

• Tan Dinh Church - Tân Định Church is a Roman Catholic church in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Its formal name is the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Although located in District 3, the parish shares its name with neighboring District 1’s Tân Định Ward. It was constructed during the French colonial period in the 1870s and completed on 16 December 1876, when Vietnam was part of French Indochina.
