-
People’s Committee Building - Ho Chi Minh City Hall is not open to the public as it serves as an official government building of Vietnam. Its stunning French Colonial architecture and sunny cream-and-yellow hue make it a favorite among tourists and a symbol of Saigon, standing as one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. The building is located at one end of Nguyen Hue Boulevard on Le Thanh Ton Street, a short walk from Dong Khoi Street.
-
Emperor Jade Pagoda - Situated in District 1, this is one of the oldest pagodas in Saigon, approximately a ten-minute drive from the city center.
-
The Independence Palace - The palace is like a time capsule from 1975. Visitors can see two original tanks used in the palace’s capture, parked on the grounds. Independence Palace was the residence and workplace of the French Governor of Cochin-China. It features lush gardens, secret rooms, antique furniture, and a command bunker. It continues to host significant events in Ho Chi Minh, including APEC summits.
-
Ben Thanh Market - Located in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1, Ben Thanh Market is an excellent place to purchase local handicrafts, branded goods, Vietnamese art, and other souvenirs. Inside the market, there are food stalls offering hawker-style Vietnamese cuisine, or visitors can enjoy a cold drink to cool off when bargaining becomes overwhelming. The market is large and can be challenging to navigate at times, and it’s best to avoid during the hottest part of the day, but it’s definitely worth a visit.
-
Central Post Office - A must-see in Saigon: Originally built as a hotel in 1886 by French architect Gardes, it now functions as a city hall and is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks.
-
Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral - Notre Dame Cathedral Saigon is one of the most unique architectural structures in Ho Chi Minh City. From the outside, the bright red color of the refined brick wall, which has remained free of moss for hundreds of years, is visible. These bricks were made in Guichard Carvin, Marseille St André France, and were directly imported from France. There are 56 colored glass plates on the wall depicting characters and events from the Holy Bible. These glass plates reflect light, creating a magnificent beauty. The wall features 31 flower-shaped air holes, resembling a carpet of flowers, and 25 windows assembled with multi-colored glass.
-
Saigon Opera House (Ho Chi Minh Municipal Theater) - Also known as the Municipal Theatre Saigon, the Saigon Opera House is located in Lam Son Square at the beginning of Le Loi Street, a popular shopping street that extends from the park across the road to Ben Thanh Market. Standing magnificently at the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, where it intersects with many important routes, the building is an impressive sight in Saigon both day and night.
-
War Remnants Museum - The War Remnants Museum, formerly known as the Museum of American War Crimes, houses over 20,000 documents, exhibits, and films, with more than 1,500 documents, artifacts, and films regularly featured in eight thematic exhibitions. Over the past 35 years, the War Museum Ho Chi Minh has welcomed over 15 million visitors from both home and abroad.
