Monte Alto is a nature reserve situated 480 – 880 meters above sea level. It is part of the Nosara Protected Zone, which aims to preserve nature and wildlife alongside vital water resources. Orchids bloom from March to April exclusively.
Currently, the reserve spans 924 hectares of low mountain moist forest transitioning to humid forest. Small wildcats and numerous other animals inhabit the area, and scientists have discovered previously unknown plant species.
Bird enthusiasts will be pleased to know that over 200 bird species reside in the reserve, making it an excellent destination for nature lovers and eco-tourists eager to learn about the jungle’s complexities.
