Lang Son - “Prepare for an incredible adventure tour in Vietnam! The tour guide will pick up guests by minivan at their hotel in Hanoi’s old quarter or at Mr. Linh’s Adventures office between 7:30 and 8:00 am, embarking on a scenic 3-hour drive to Lang Son near the Chinese border.
Upon arrival, visitors will explore Mạc Citadel, a 16th-century fortress constructed by the Mạc Dynasty as a defense against the Lê-Trịnh forces. Although partially in ruins, the citadel remains a symbol of Vietnam’s turbulent feudal past. Guests will have the opportunity to explore its stone walls, learn about its strategic military significance, and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Quang Uyen - After a delightful lunch at a local restaurant in Đồng Đăng, the journey continues to Đông Khê, a significant historical site where the Battle of Đông Khê (1950) occurred during the First Indochina War. This battle was a pivotal victory for the Viet Minh against French colonial forces, paving the way for further independence efforts. Exploring the site offers deeper insights into Vietnam’s revolutionary history.
In the evening, guests will travel to a traditional Nùng ethnic homestay, where they will enjoy a home-cooked dinner and a restful overnight stay, immersing themselves in the local culture and lifestyle.
Highlights and activities: Mac citadel, Dong Khe battle site, ethnic villages, and a 3-5km walk”
Cao Bang – Ban Gioc Waterfall – Ba Be National Park (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Ban Gioc Waterfall - Detian Falls - After a hearty breakfast at the homestay, guests will depart for Trung Khanh, located right on the border with China. Here, they will have another opportunity to meet and interact with the local Nung people in the village of Phuoc Sen, a mountainous area renowned for its traditional blacksmithing. The farming tools crafted here are essential to the lifestyle, evident in the surrounding rice paddies and fields.
Amidst these stunning landscapes lies the breathtaking Ban Gioc Waterfall, spanning over 300 meters and shared between Vietnam and China. Visitors will have time to soak in the incredible atmosphere surrounding the falls, offering a perfect chance for fantastic photography.
After visiting the falls, it’s time to explore Nguom Ngao Cave, a different yet equally impressive natural wonder. The cave extends for 2,144 meters underground, filled with remarkable stalactites and stalagmites.
Ba Be - Guests will then return to Cao Bang town and travel down the “snake pass” to Ba Be Lake, where they will stay overnight in a homestay built in traditional Tay style, owned and operated by a local Tay family. Here, they can relax and unwind from the day, enjoying a delicious and authentic home-cooked meal.
Highlights and activities: Ban Gioc waterfall, Nguom Ngao cave, Ba Be National Park, ethnic villages
Concluding the day, guests will travel to Quang Uyen for dinner and an overnight stay at Nung’s house.
Ba Be Lake - Hanoi (Breakfast, Lunch)
Ba Be - After breakfast, guests will board a boat to cross the lake to the north shore. From there, they will begin a hike in the rainforest of the central area of Ba Be National Park. Along the lake’s shores, they will reach a prehistoric cave dating back 500 million years, hidden in an ancient forest composed of rare and hardwood trees, as strong as steel. A little further, a fire station provides an opportunity to observe the birds.
Ba Be National Park - The hike continues to the An Ma temple, a sacred site of the Tay people venerating the snake god and a military general of the Mac dynasty.
Guests can choose how to spend their time on the boat: relax and admire the landscape or take a refreshing dip in the lake’s waters. Either way, they can enjoy the scenery with its beautiful karst formations lined with jungle.
Note: Visitors who prefer not to participate in the walk can opt to stay on the boat to visit Widow Island or do some shopping.
Hanoi - Return to Ba Be Jungle Houses restaurant for lunch before concluding the tour. Guests will be transported approximately 230 km back to Hanoi, with a stop at a tea plantation nestled among rolling hills. Upon arrival in Hanoi, it’s time to say goodbye, leaving with cherished memories and lasting connections.
