- Chua Tran Quoc - The first stop is Tran Quoc Pagoda, the oldest pagoda in Hanoi, dating back to the 6th century. It is beautifully situated near West Lake. During the Lunar New Year, the pagoda draws a large crowd seeking good luck wishes before concluding the tour.
- Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum - The next visit is to the Complex of President Ho Chi Minh, which includes Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and Stilt House, where the revered leader lived and worked in his final years. Visitors will gain insight into Uncle Ho’s humble lifestyle. Additionally, a stop at the One Pillar Pagoda allows admiration of one of Hanoi’s four symbols. Note that on Mondays, Fridays, and from June 10, 2024, to August 13, 2024, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is closed for maintenance, so only the exterior will be visited.
- Vietnam Museum of Ethnology - This museum is one of the newest, largest, and most fascinating in Hanoi and Vietnam. It features both indoor and outdoor sections, with the indoor exhibits being particularly informative. The outdoor displays and activities distinguish this museum from others. It showcases houses modeled after the traditional architecture of ethnic minorities, especially those from the Northern and Central highlands. The museum is closed on Mondays and New Year Holidays, so the Ho Chi Minh Museum or Vietnamese Women Museum will be visited instead.
- Temple of Literature & National University - After lunch at a local restaurant, the tour proceeds to the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam (Imperial Academy), regarded as Vietnam’s first university. Highlights include the Literature Lake, Khue Van Pavilion, and the stele house, which are not to be missed. The tour guide will share stories about the 82 doctor stele stones, which bear the names of 1,306 individuals and remain standing today. Lunch will be enjoyed at a local restaurant.
- Hoa Lo Prison - The tour continues at Hoa Lo Prison, known as one of the most notorious places in Vietnam during the 20th century. Established in 1896 by the French colonial government to detain political prisoners, visitors can listen to stories about the Vietnam War from the tour guide while observing the prison’s artifacts.
