- Hoa Lo Prison - Known as the “Hanoi Hilton,” this prison housed Vietnamese political prisoners, as well as French and American prisoners of war, providing a captivating and sobering insight into prison life. Most of the original structure was demolished in 1996 to make room for the Hanoi Towers (now Somerset Grand Hanoi) serviced apartment and office complex, but the southernmost corner has been preserved and reopened to the public as a tribute to the revolutionaries who perished here under dire conditions. Visitors can see the original cells, complete with leg-irons, along with a variety of bilingual (Vietnamese and English) exhibits depicting the grim realities of life in the prison during the French colonial era.
-
French Quarter - In the French Quarter (available on Mon and Fri), the tour includes visits to the Monument of Sacrifice and Hoan Kiem Lake.
The tour concludes around 12:00 PM (for the morning tour) or 5:00 PM (for the afternoon tour).

Hanoi History Tour - I had a great walking tour of Hanoi war history today - it was very nicely done - my guides helped me understand the long term history of Vietnam, its history of conflicts and the ultimate victory resulting in unification of the country in 1975. Very knowledgeable and personable and proud of their country!

Great tour in Hanoi - Our guide was Thomas, a Vietnamese student who could make time for us after an exam. Really helpful since we talked by whatsapp and the tour that we could choose (although it was fast because we had no much time) it was amazing. We did the Hoa Lo Prision tour and Joseph Cathedral and all the information provided was super interesting but also other different topics as vietnamese history, food or fun facts… His actitud and passion make me recommend to everyone going to Hanoi making a tour with him.

Another, marvellous tour in Hanoi - Amazing half a day tour with Peanut, a very young student of e-buddies.
She’s able to speak English fluently and she showed me Hoa lò prison and Vietnamese Women museum. Despite the very hot weather, we went to Ho Chi Minh mausoleum too.
Then she brought me in a vegan restaurant, an hidden gem, unknown by tourist, where we had a delicious lunch.
I highly recommended the students of Hanoi e-buddies if you want a non conventional tour, if you want to chat with a Vietnamese about their culture and if you want to support a great organisation.

Outstanding tour - Highly recommended organization! - Our experience with the students of Hanoi was truly delightful! We embarked on a food tour on our first day, followed by a visit to the Temple of Literature. Opting for the food tour initially proved to be an excellent decision; we were introduced to traditional cuisine, provided insights into their culinary customs, and received valuable recommendations on where to dine. It comes highly recommended!
Regarding the historical tour, regrettably, I've forgotten the names of our guides. However, both students were incredibly kind and knowledgeable, particularly about the Temple of Literature. Despite our group comprising two small children, making it challenging to adhere strictly to the tour itinerary, they handled the situation admirably. We highly recommend their services!

Discovering the vibrancy of Hanoi's Old Quarter - Exploring the bustling streets of Hanoi's Old Quarter was an enthralling experience. Guided by warm and knowledgeable hosts, we delved into the rich history and culture of this dynamic area. From iconic landmarks to hidden gems, our guides shared insightful stories that brought each sight to life. Engaging in conversations with them, we gained a deeper understanding of daily life in Hanoi and Vietnam as a whole. Their genuine interest in our experiences made the tour even more memorable. Without hesitation, we urge others to join us in discovering the vibrant charm of Hanoi's Old Quarter.

Prison is the only War part of the tour - The prison was very interesting and it was great having Camille along as she could give depth to the information with the exhibits.
That was the only war part of the trip as I got a message the night before to say the museum was 12km away so not possible. Offered other options but I didn’t pick your to go to women’s museum or literature museum so bailed after the prison tour. Really need to change the description as war sites tour is not what is offered.
Camille provided some very helpful guidance on visiting some other sites.
