Samaria Gorge is a must-see for any nature enthusiast, offering a truly miraculous experience. As the longest gorge in Europe, it stretches 16 km and provides a chance to encounter rare formations and species of Cretan flora and fauna, including the unique Kri-Kri goat, found only in Crete. The journey begins through charming traditional mountain villages, leading to Xyloskalo on the Omalos plateau, the northern entrance of the gorge at an elevation of 1,250 meters. As you continue, you’ll pass through the “Sideroportes” (Iron Doors), the narrowest section of Samaria, and conclude at the Libyan Sea’s shores in Agia Roumeli, where you can relax, dine, and swim.
