- Samaria Gorge National Park - The Samaria Gorge is one of the premier attractions in the Chania district, and no trip to Chania is truly complete without a visit to this stunning gorge. The trail begins at Ksyloskalo (Omalos plateau, 1,227 meters above sea level) and follows the riverbed, concluding at the coastal village of Agia Roumeli. This trail is the most frequented in all of Greece, well-marked with signs to prevent getting lost, and is comfortably maintained with stones and soil.
The hike is not considered overly challenging, as evidenced by the hundreds of visitors who traverse it daily from its opening in May until the end of the visiting season in October. It offers a delightful and not overly strenuous experience, with diverse landscapes and a rich environment.
- Agia Roumeli - The gorge concludes at the village of Agia Roumeli, where our guide will have arranged a meeting point to provide you with ferry tickets for your journey from Agia Roumeli. You will have free time to swim and enjoy an optional lunch at one of the village’s taverns.
Agia Roumeli is a distinctive location with authentic Cretan heritage and a strong sense of identity. It is a tranquil community, nestled between towering, rugged mountains and a long pebble beach by the deep blue, crystal-clear Libyan Sea. The village is remote and nearly isolated, accessible only by foot or boat, as there is no road.
- Sougia Beach - At 17:30, you will board the ferry, with Sougia or Sfakia (usually Sougia) as your destination. Upon arrival at the port, our bus will be ready to take you back to your hotel.
Sougia Village is one of the most relaxed and refreshingly undeveloped beach destinations along Crete’s unique southern coast, south of Chania. It features a beautiful wide arc of sand and pebble beach and several taverns where you can savor excellent traditional cuisine and fresh fish. The site of the ancient town of Syia, which thrived during Roman times, Sougia became a village after World War II and has recently developed into a seaside tourist resort, thanks to its stunning beach, natural beauty, and the peaceful, relaxed atmosphere it offers visitors.
- Chania Town - Afterward, we return to Chania and your hotels.
