Whales! - We had a great sailing trip. The boat was quiet and once we were out on the water we could really enjoy the mountains, the ocean and the birds. We saw a humpback who surfaced for us multiple times and showed us their tail; with the silent boat we could hear it as it surfaced making exhalations out of the blowhole. It really was a special experience to watch the graceful arc of the tail as it would make a dive.
We happened to have a beautiful day - sunny, clear, and very little wind. We were given full insulated jumpsuits but it was almost too warm for that. I am sure they come in handy on windier or colder days!
On the way back, my son also spotted a Minke and we saw that a few times, and then finished the trip with hot cocoa and cinnamon rolls. The guides are also informative and passionate about marine biology and conservation. Husavik is a nice town and I wish we'd had more time to walk around there.

Unmissable experience in the North of Iceland - We enjoyed this tour so much!
We first saw a group of white-beaked dolphins, and afterwards four individuals of humpback whales. The latters, displayed different feeding behaviours and it was so beautiful to see them moving in synchro. An unforgettable experience.
The extremely well prepared guides (thanks Maya and Alyssa) have been precise in the explanations, not only concerning whales, but also of seabirds, landscape, curiosities about the area.
It was also very nice to feel how everyone, including the guides and the captain of the boat, were part of the experience. They had fun with us and didn't hide excitement for what we got to see.
Highly recommended, this was one of the highlights of our trip to Iceland!

Unforgettable Whale Watching Experience in Húsavík - This tour was worth every penny. From start to finish, the entire team—both on land and at sea—was exceptional. The staff at the Húsavík office were warm, attentive, and incredibly patient, taking the time to explain every detail of the tour thoroughly. Onboard, the crew continued to impress with their professionalism and hospitality.
Before departure, the staff made sure we were well-prepared, assisting us with the thermal bodysuits and offering helpful advice to ensure we were comfortable throughout the journey. Our tour guide, a knowledgeable and articulate marine biologist, truly elevated the experience. She answered every question with enthusiasm—whether it was about whale behavior, Icelandic marine life, or broader ecological topics. My parents, who had previously gone whale watching in Alaska, particularly appreciated her ability to draw thoughtful comparisons between the two regions. She even brought along a dried baleen plate for us to examine, along with educational pamphlets available onboard, which added an enriching layer to the trip.
The boat captain navigated expertly, ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride throughout. The added touches—like complimentary cinnamon buns and hot chocolate—were incredibly thoughtful and made the experience feel warm and welcoming, despite the cool sea air.
As for the whales themselves, while I had hoped to see more, the moments we did share with them were absolutely breathtaking. Observing these majestic creatures up close in their natural habitat was an unforgettable experience.
I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Iceland—it's informative, well-run, and truly memorable.

Hot chocolate while watching wales in Iceland...go figure..! - Every aspect of the tour was well organized: the provided suits to protect from the cold, were great. The boat left on time, was not noisy and we were able to see a few whales. Impressive! The hot chocolate and the cinnamon buns served on board, towards the end were also very much appreciated. Staff friendly and informed. I can only recommend the tour.

Seeing the humpback... - Seeing the humpback whales up close, and having a knowledgeable guide. The hot chocolate and cinnamon roll was a nice touch at the end of the tour :)

Shame electric boat out of action - The electric boat was unavailable so we took this one. Very rocky ride despite calmish seas. Not very informative and one or two sightings. Felt overcrowded

bad weather - The weather was terrible, our whale watching trip was cancelled, so we left after a short time. But the town itself can be nice during better weather conditions.

Disappointed - Unfortunately, I feel disappointed when I think about my experience booking a trip with North Sailing Expeditions. I signed up for a 7-day sail to ski trip with the company only to find out it was being canceled two weeks before the start of the trip. I feel disappointed when I think about the experience and the lack of communication about the major work that needed to be completed to use the sailboat for our trip. I feel frustrated with the lack of foresight about the condition of the boat and how impactful this would be for our trip. We planned for almost a year with many additional expenses that are non-refundable. I feel frustrated when I think about the delay in issuing a refund for the trip. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this charter.

Bad experience - Well organized tour there is no doubt with supply of thermal suits and electric boat but who has seen the whales? I was told that the tour in Husavik is the top for whale watching. We saw 2/3 puffs at 300/400 meters away some silhouette that seemed to be of very small whales and some puffins. I have to think that the photos drl finger are photomontages!!!
Money wasted, maybe others of you were lucky but we just froze!
