- Hue - Memorial site of Uncle Ho’s involvement in the anti-tax movement at the Central Embassy, Hue. In April 1908, a protest for tax reduction was held by the people of Thua Thien Hue. The protest began on April 9, 1908, and peaked on April 11, 1908, when farmers from six districts gathered to encircle the Nunciature Palace with their demands. President Ho Chi Minh, then a student, along with other Quoc Hoc students, joined the anti-tax protest group; “Uncle Ho” used his French language skills to assist as an interpreter. The Nunciature Palace no longer exists today, having been destroyed in 1945. To honor this site, which witnessed President Ho Chi Minh’s early patriotic actions, the Ho Chi Minh Thua Thien Hue Museum erected a symbol of Nguyen Tat Thanh (President Ho Chi Minh) participating in the 1908 anti-tax movement.
