Dining Beneath the Waves: A Pharaoh’s Feast in Makadi Bay
When I heard about the Makadi Bay underwater dining experience, I knew it was a must-try. The idea of dining on a floating replica of Queen Nefertari’s tomb, surrounded by the vibrant marine life of the Red Sea, was too enticing to resist.
Setting Sail on a Pharaoh’s Dream
The sun was just beginning to dip below the horizon as I found myself boarding a vessel unlike any other. Styled as a floating replica of Queen Nefertari’s tomb, this wasn’t just any boat—it was a portal to another time. The intricate decorations and ancient Egyptian motifs transported me back to the age of the pharaohs, a fitting start to what promised to be an unforgettable adventure.
As we set sail from the Xanadu Makadi Bay Marina, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of anticipation. The staff, warm and welcoming, offered us a refreshing glass of juice as we embarked on our journey. With only a handful of fellow adventurers on board, the atmosphere was intimate and relaxed, perfect for soaking in the beauty of the Red Sea.
Our destination was Abu Hashish Island, a short 20-minute cruise away. As we approached, the vibrant coral reefs came into view, and I was reminded of the countless hours I’ve spent exploring the underwater wonders of the Caribbean. But this was different—this was the Red Sea, a place I’d only dreamed of visiting.
A Window to the Underwater World
Descending to the submarine level observation deck, I was greeted by a sight that took my breath away. Through the panoramic windows, the underwater world unfolded before my eyes. Schools of colorful fish darted among the coral, their movements a mesmerizing dance of life.
Yet, amidst this beauty, a stark reminder of our impact on the planet floated by—a plastic bag, drifting aimlessly among the fish. It was a sobering sight, one that underscored the importance of preserving these fragile ecosystems.
Back on deck, the opportunity to dress up as an ancient Egyptian king or queen awaited. While I opted out of the costume experience, preferring to stay in my laid-back island attire, I watched as others embraced the chance to capture a piece of history in their photos. It was a fun and lighthearted moment, adding a touch of whimsy to the day.
Dining with the Pharaohs
With the snorkeling adventure complete, it was time to indulge in a culinary experience fit for royalty. The three-course meal, featuring a choice of seafood or chicken, was a feast for the senses. As I savored each bite, I couldn’t help but reflect on the day’s adventures and the incredible journey that had brought me here.
As we slowly sailed back to the marina, the sun setting in a blaze of colors, I felt a deep sense of gratitude. This underwater dining experience had been more than just a meal—it was a celebration of the ocean’s wonders and a reminder of the beauty that lies beneath the waves.
For those of you who share my love for the sea and the thrill of discovery, the Underwater Dining Experience is a must. It’s a chance to connect with the ocean in a way that’s both unique and unforgettable. Until next time, keep riding those waves and exploring the world one adventure at a time.
