Awesome Iceland! - We booked the 8-Day Winter Ring Road Group Tour. These are small groups - up to 16 people- we had 9. Our group was a mix of a family, couples, and singles. So even though it said Winter, we were there for the beginning of summer. However, the temperatures were always in the upper 30s to low 40s F. This is exactly what we were hoping for. No offense to warm summer days but when you live in a hot environment sometimes your vacation needs to include a change in weather. The trip was well planned out. We saw everything we wanted to see - Lava show, lava flows, lava caves, glaciers, ice caves, water falls, geysers, Icelandic horses, reindeer, black sand beaches, Whales, cultural buildings, thermal baths, and the most beautiful countryside. We also met a lot of warm, friendly Icelandic people everywhere we went. It sounds like a lot to visit in a short period of time but it never seemed rushed. Our guide Johann was superb! He really impressed us with his knowledge of every place on the itinerary. But it was really his love for his country, his personal stories, the historical background information he provided that made it special. Oh and Johann always had excellent dining recommendations! Food and dining are pricey in Iceland, and Johann always pointed out the stores where the group could buy food for a meal or snack, along with the restaurant or cafe recommendations. He also made small tweaks and adjustments based on various requests...it is not every tour guide that does an impromptu stop because, "there is a rainbow"! and "can we see where they grow the tomatoes"? We made friends with the others in the group. It felt like we became some sort of crazy family on an adventure. This trip with was a top notch!! I would do it all over again tomorrow if I could. We were selling the trip to a seat mate on the flight home.

Cream of the Crop - Our ring road trip was the perfect balance of exploring, relaxing, and learning. Johann is the cream of the crop. His competence and passion for Iceland consistently shined through. I felt safe, excited, and curious about each day. Tröll tours was organized with beautiful accommodations. Johann was our cherry on top, creating a solid team dynamic and infusing the spirit of Iceland into everything we did.

8 day magical tour around Iceland - Excellent tour with an excellent tour guide. John was passionate about Iceland and its history and he enthusiastically imparted this information to our tour group. He related myths, stories and legends about each site or area we visited and he loved to stop at maps along the route to show where we have been or going to and explain any relevant details. He was also a lot of fun and was mindful of the different cultures within the tour group. The Troll tour took us to all the popular and well known tourist sites as well as some lesser known stops which was a bonus. John managed to have our tour visit these sites when there were very few people about and he adapted our visits to the constantly changing weather conditions. Can’t speak highly enough of John. The hotels we stayed in were clean and appropriate to the areas we were staying. Beds were comfortable and breakfast was included. The bus was also clean and comfortable. We were a small winter season group so we were able to spread out. Recommend this tour and I would love to come back one day and do the summer tour and maybe see some puffins.

Best Winter Holidays ❤️❤️ - Our family had a fantastic time in Iceland for 8 days following Troll tour and our trip was more exciting and enjoyable with John as our tour guide. He is not an ordinary tour guide, he has passion for his work, he is knowledgeable, we love his geography lectures 😂 Amid challenging weather he make sure that we are safe when we visit each viewpoint, constantly remind us to avoid dangerous areas. We love the restaurants that intro to us, we love those extra stops too. What a wonderful 8 days.

Amazing views of Iceland - Our guide Jóhann helped make our trip even better. He went out of his way to show us the best views and had some interesting stories and history to share while driving. It was nice to be able to sit back, relax and enjoy the views without having to worry about driving on winter roads.

Johann was awesome. - Johann was awesome. He made the trip like a good family holiday. He showed us the little things that make this country unique and special. He had the best place for food and extra things to do and when I had an issue with my booking he sorted it out quickly. The little extra bits that make a great tour guide. As a solo female traveler I felt supported and safe. The group we had were awesome too so that helped. The guides that ran the extra tours were lovely and had great knowledge. Especially the Glacier hike and both ice cave and lava cave guides. Issues were the hotel on the last two nights didn't live up to the quality of the rest of the trip. The beds were not great and the lack of a hot option for breakfast was disappointing as even at the most remote place we had better breakfast. I recommend if you have good mobility and suggest to book all the extras.
