We first drive around the base of Hekla, one of the most active volcanoes in Europe. The route then takes us through captivating, contorted lava flows that have emerged from a myriad of different craters and fissures.
After a Laugarhraun lava field hike, delicious hot spring bathing offers a uniquely pleasurable experience. Remember to bring your swimwear if you want to take a dip in the natural hot spring.

Very highly recommended - We took this tour with the wonderful guide Anna. She made this beautiful tour an amazing lifetime experience for our group, with her endless knowledge and good vibe.
The tour was absolutely amazing, we got to see the best of the Highlands, including a 2 hours great hike with breathtaking views.

Lovely Company - totally worth it! - We had a fantastic Super Jeep Tour into the Highlands with Midgard. Our guide David led the tour with a great sense of humor and deep knowledge about Iceland. Even though the weather in the Highlands can change extremely quickly, I always felt safe and well taken care of thanks to his experience. The scenery is truly breathtaking – at times it feels like being on another planet. For anyone who wants to experience Iceland in a very special way and has the time (and the budget), this tour is absolutely worth it!

Fantastic day with Midgard and tourist guide Anna! - This was one of the highlights for our trip to Iceland. Our tour guide Anna was simply fabulous - she was approachable, incredibly nice, and informative! She provided us with so many interesting facts about what we were seeing, as well as about the country of Iceland. We also stopped along the way to see a few very interesting sights. The hike itself was through some of the prettiest terrain I’ve ever seen. And after, we had time to enjoy the thermal spring. All in all, the day was full of beautiful sights and interesting conversations, and the group, which started as strangers, all felt like friends by the end of the day.

An unforgettable experience! - It was a fantastic experience, driving through some of the most extraordinary landscapes in the world and then walking in an absolutely unique and beautiful mountain range. We were all ecstatic.

Alessandro = Highland MVP - Alessandro was the BESSSSSST. From the jump it felt less like we hired a guide and more like we picked up a buddy who just happened to know every secret corner of the Icelandic Highlands. He somehow managed to keep the vibe super chill while also dropping knowledge bombs about the landscapes, history, and random Iceland facts I did not even know I wanted.
He read the group perfectly, knowing when to push the pace, when to slow down, and when to crack a joke. Honestly, the whole day felt like hanging out with one of my boys from back home, except my actual friends never drive monster trucks across rivers or make glacier views look casual.
Midgard, if you are reading this: Alessandro is not just good, he is the type of guide that makes people want to book with your company again.

A must! - What a day!! Exploring this park with Midgard was awesome, thanks to a combination of driving to unreachable places by other means, hiking an amazing colourful special hike and being taken care of by our guide Alesandro who saw it as his mission to share incredible places with us. It was a small group which was great.

Midgard is amazing! - Can’t say enough great things about the staff. When our flight was cancelled, they worked tirelessly to help us get on another tour. The tour was amazing and the food was good. Definitely book with Midgard. They treat you like family.

Leave it to the professionals - We had a wonderful day with Palmi our driver and guide on our private southern highlands exploration super jeep tour. Starting off on ordinary roads and then up on to the F roads through lava fields and up into Landmannalaugar. We must have travelled through every terrain possible, through rivers and up to amazing viewpoints, culminating in a 2.5 - 3hr hike. The drive was amazing and certainly not something I would dare attempt to do in a rental car. An unforgettable way to explore the regions diverse and breathtaking scenery. Palmi was an excellent driver and guide and we shall be recommending him and Midgard adventures to anyone visiting Iceland.

Another great stay - As with previous experiences, Midgard delivered with a great trip into Iceland’s natural beauty. Extremely knowledgeable guide (from Iceland not abroad) and comfortable, safe vehicle. Always a pleasure to be at Midgard, they truly make you feel like part of the family.

Unique remote experience in Iceland! - This was our most unique experience in Iceland! The guide took us in a super jeep along primitive roads at the base of a volcano, and drove through waterways so we could have access to the completely remote area of Landmannalaugar. We hiked through fields of lava rock, observing beautifully colored landscape, mountains and steam fissures. At the end of the hike was a natural hot spring, but it was a cold day so we didn’t try it out. The guide was so interesting and informative, and he was a great driver who knew precisely when to adjust his tire pressure (making us feel completely safe). The landscape was absolutely gorgeous! I highly recommend this activity!
