Marrakech – Imi Oughlad – Tizi N’Tachte – Tiziane Village

Imlil - The journey begins early in the morning from Marrakech with a delightful drive south, ascending through the Moulay Brahim Gorge and Upper Valleys to reach the higher foothills of the Western High Atlas Mountains. The route leads to Imi Oughlad (1450m) with Jbel Toubkal (4167m – the highest peak in North Africa), Aglzim (3650m), and Aksoual (3847m) prominently ahead. Here, the Berber muleteer crew will join, adding excitement to the trek. The trek starts in a northwest direction with a 2-hour acclimatization hike up switchback mule tracks, passing cornfields, pine, and juniper forests to Tizi N’Tachte (2000m). A stop here offers a view back down on Imlil and Ait Oussaden Valleys, before continuing for another half hour to Imi N’Ifri for a picnic. After the picnic, a leisurely 2.5-hour hike southwest along a dirt track leads to Assif N’Ait Oussaden and the red clay terraced Tiziane village, where the night will be spent in a gite d’etape.

Tizziane – Tizi N’Taghrhourte – D’knt Village

Ouirgane - Following breakfast, the hike continues up along Assif N’Ait Oussaden Valley, passing through walnut groves to Tizi N’Taghrhourte (1995m) and a rare flat stretch leading to Assaka spring. A field picnic is enjoyed here. The afternoon hike descends along the forest edge to reach D’knt village (1870m), where dinner will be served. The night will be spent in a family home.

D’knt – Tizi N’Tagdalte – Tizi Oussem

Tizi Oussem - The morning begins with a 3-hour hike through walnut groves, corn, and barley fields. Along the way, encounters with sheep and goat herders, as well as women and children carrying heavy loads of dates and dried herbs, are common. The path passes Tizi N’Tagdalte, descending through juniper trees to a small spring for a picnic. After refreshments, the journey continues down winding tracks of upper slopes for approximately 3 hours to a small river at the start of Assif N’Ait Oussaden Valley. The day’s destination is Tizi Oussem village (1850m), where dinner and accommodation in a mountain gite d’etape await.

Tizi Oussem – Tizi M’Zzik – Imlil – Back to Marrakech

High Atlas Mountains - After breakfast, the path ascends through pine and juniper trees to Tizi M’Zzik (2450m) and descends slowly to M’Zzik village. Here, amidst orchards of cherry, apple, and nut trees and surrounding peaks, a picnic is enjoyed. In the afternoon, the trek continues down to Imlil village, marking the end of the trek. Transportation will be provided to return to Marrakech.
