Panoramic views - One shall reach the top either walking r by funicular. It takes 2 hrs 20 min to reach walking & 10 min by funicular. We had 2 small kids and opted funicular. To avoid rush start the day as early as possible. This again a new experience to go by funicular. There's a restaurant atop... The conjunction of these 2 lakes Thun & Brienz...is Interlaken. Wow...so beautiful 😍. Took pics and retd by funicular. A must visit

Beautiful sunset views encompassing all of Interlaken. - An amazing viewing experience from top of Interlaken. The funicular was running full due to heavy tourist traffic but the weather, views and everything made up for the wait. There is a large restaurant at Harder Kulm where you can relax and have a drink, dine and take in the beautiful views of the glacier peaks, the lakes and the valley. The train managers are very courteous and friendly.

Interlaken is perfect! - Beautiful view of the city, but it was cloudy and we did not see the Alps or the valley perfectly.
It is worth a consultation on the online webcam before coming to interlaken.

Fun train, great views, but a steep walk back down - My family, including 2 teenage boys, caught the funicular train up and walked down in sunny bright weather.
We had to wait about 20 minutes for a train up (at 1030). There is a separate line for advance purchase tickets that avoids the ticket office queue, but it wasn’t clear how to claim the 15% discount offered by local hotels online - so we waited about 5 mins to pay there for a one way ticket.
The journey up is steep, but the views are spectacular. It was standing room only in the carriage - the journey takes 10 mins. It is then a 5 minute walk to the restaurant. The viewing platform offers lovely views of the 2 lakes, Interlaken and the Eiger and Jungfrau mountains.
We then walked down - which took us 1.30 hours to the main road and a further 25 mins to get into the town centre. The climb down was quite steep and uneven in places with loose stones underfoot and the path initially followed some quite steep hairpin bends - so make sure you wear suitable footwear. This isn’t a walk to be doing with young children. Most of the route was through trees, so there was plenty of shade.

Pay 44 francs or 22 with the Half Care Card: a real heist! - It is not worth paying the abusive price of the funicular to see the views of the two lakes: Eiger and Monch, you take longer to get up and down than you do to see the views.

Would not recommend - We had a very poor experience with the Harder Kulm funicular. We waited until the evening to try and avoid the large queues during the day and bought our timed tickets shortly before travel. The online system allowed us to buy a timed ticket for 7:10pm, but we arrived 20 mins before our slot to find huge queues at the entrance. Walk-up tickets were still being sold, to add to the delay, and there was no attempt at queue management. We had to wait about an hour in the blazing heat to board a train. We were told that the last train down was at 9:40pm so we arrived at the top station shortly after 9 to make sure that we caught it. However, once again we were left waiting for nearly an hour at the top of the mountain. It was dark, there were lots of people waiting, and nowhere to sit whilst you waited. We finally got down after 10pm. Would not recommend this experience.

Terrible customer service- would give zero stars if possible - I booked everything months in advance for my trip to Interlaken. Since it was my final day, I had to check out of my hotel and already had a train ticket for the afternoon. When I arrived at the station, all the luggage lockers were full, leaving me nowhere safe to store my belongings while enjoying the attraction.
I went to customer service to explain the situation and request a refund. Because I booked online, they said they couldn’t help me in person and told me to email instead. After hours of back-and-forth emails, I was told that I couldn’t get a refund because I hadn’t canceled before 23:59 the night before (something buried in the fine print). However, when I spoke to someone at the station, they admitted that if I had purchased the tickets in person, they could have refunded me on the spot.
In short: zero flexibility, zero customer care. I lost almost $100 for nothing. My advice: avoid at all costs. If anything goes wrong, don’t expect any help.

Not the Swiss clockwork you’d expect, in fact, the worst experience in the two weeks in the region - Absolute shambles. They sell timed tickets which mean nothing; we still ended up waiting an hour as they filled the train ahead of us with people without pre booked tickets. Lady at the counter still kept selling tickets even when they were running 30 minutes behind, making those who had timed tickets wait even longer. Customer service is appalling. You can’t get your money back at the counter either. May listen to you if you submit a refund re user.

The Only Letdown in Interlaken. We lost $80 - Before you go, read this—we lost $80 thanks to their chaotic system.
There’s zero organization. Two separate lines (online and in-person tickets), both with 75-90 minute waits. When we finally got close, a large group pushed ahead claiming to be accompanying a wheelchair user—15 people! One or two is understandable, but this was just taking advantage.
The train only runs every 30 minutes, so even after to the front, we faced another hour’s wait. After all these hours in line with hungry kids, we gave up and forfeited our tickets. The line to come down is apparently even worse.
Unlike Jungfrau, there’s no seat reservation system—just a mess of people packed in like sardines. Disappointing and badly managed. They need to do better.
