The trail consistently gains elevation through steep woodland paths, interspersed with a few flatter sections. Midway, a small farmhouse with a fountain provides an ideal spot to refill water and take a break before continuing the climb.
As the hike progresses, the forest clears, revealing the first glimpses of the stunning views. Upon reaching Harder Kulm, breathtaking panoramas of Lake Thun, Lake Brienz, and the Jungfrau region, including the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, unfold. During the operating season, a summit restaurant offers a wonderful place to unwind before the descent.
This hike is highly adaptable, with trail options ranging from steeper to more moderate, depending on your pace, fitness level, and desired level of adventure. The historic Harderbahn funicular is also available for the return journey when operational.
