- Belen - The Belén Market is the largest exotic local marketplace in Iquitos, offering a taste of local culture and a glimpse into the daily lives of the residents. The market features a variety of food products sourced from the Amazon River and jungle, including alligator meat, wild boar, piranhas, and turtle eggs. Additionally, there is a jungle pharmacy called Pasaje Paquito, which sells traditional indigenous medicine, such as special herbs and roots.
- Belen - Next, we will explore the Floating City of Belén, located next to the Belén Marketplace. Here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the River Itaya, a significant clearwater Amazon tributary. The Floating City is entirely built on water, and depending on the river level and season, you might see the massive wooden support structures anchored underwater. You’ll also observe the local residents living and working there, as well as the construction of their floating homes. Numerous boats of various sizes will pass by, carrying fishermen, hunters, and merchants.
- Iquitos - Our return journey to Iquitos City will take a different route, offering stunning views of the Amazon River, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Here, you can witness the confluence of the clear waters of the Rio Itaya with the chocolate-colored waters of the Amazon. With some luck, you might spot pink and gray river dolphins frolicking in this area.
