Beautiful calm river canoing with great guide. - A great little trip. Very beautiful river and a very calm and enjoyable coasting trip in the canoes. The guide was knowledgable and engaged and spoke English well. Be prepared for leaving i wet clothes even if you stay in the canoe.

Ishigaki Island Mangrove Canoe Experience - Four family members participated. First of all, they picked me up at the hotel, which was very helpful. The guide was so happy to talk about the island from the bus ride, and I was able to relax and try my hand at canoeing for the first time. The mangroves and caves are mysterious, and you will be given a detailed explanation of the plants. There were many photos left and good family memories. I want to go to Ishigaki Island again.

Recommended - The weather was good and the scenery was very beautiful. It was the first time I experienced canoeing but I was able to go along the river slowly and it was healing. The instructor was nicer and I enjoyed listening to explanations about the trip. I wanted to have another different experience.

Participate in a mangrove canoe! - I made a reservation on short notice the day before, but it was great to be able to participate on the internet and experience mangrove canoeing! The next opportunity is up front and I’ll try the SUP! Thank you very much.

Mangrove Kayak Tour - It was a little cold at the time, Once we entered the river, we could enjoy it without the cold. It was such a majestic view and time passed so quickly. There are few people because it is February, It was a very wonderful experience to see tuna with no people at all

Canoe tour in the morning - The place was nice and the canoe tour pleasant, as we wanted. Nice tour guides as well. However, way too short and overpriced considering the time we spent in the Canoe! Pictures were provided included in the price but poor quality.

Disappointing canoe trip on Iriomote – unfortunately not what we expected - We were picked up at Uehara Port by bus and taken to the starting point of the tour. There followed a very detailed and long introduction to paddling – unfortunately exclusively in Japanese. As non-Japanese-speaking guests, we hardly noticed anything about it. The English “translation” consisted only of the jokingly meant question “Did you understand?”, which was amusing. It was a pity, however, that the briefing, the bus ride and the shower afterwards departed from the actual tour time. The canoe trip itself lasted about an hour – but not as we expected from the photos of the organizer, through narrow watercourses in the middle of the mangroves, but across a wide estuary at the Urauchi Bridge. We paddled from one side to the other, moored there briefly and got some information about the environment and the plant life. Again, the English part was only a greatly shortened summary of the detailed Japanese explanations. After that, photos were taken, and we paddled back to the starting point. Whether the tour was adapted because of the weather – it was cold and very windy – we cannot say. An important note for anyone planning the tour from Ishigaki: The meeting point is the Uehara Port. However, due to the bad weather, our ferry could not approach it. Instead we had to cross over to Ohara Port (duration about 1 hour) and from there take the bus (duration about 1 hour) to the meeting point. This rescheduling cost an additional ¥5,770 per person – which you should know beforehand, as the Uehara Port is often not served in bad weather. All in all, we would have hoped for more – especially a little adventure through narrow mangrove arms, as the photos on the website suggested. Instead, we got a rather easy ride across a wide estuary with two short shore walks. Despite everything, a plus was the guides, who were consistently friendly and eager. Had it not been for the return trip across the island, which is really beautiful in terms of scenery, we would have been even more disappointed by this trip.
