From June to September, hundreds of whale sharks gather on the north side of Isla Mujeres, forming the world’s largest whale shark congregation. This trip offers the unforgettable experience of snorkeling close to these magnificent creatures.
After an approximately 50-minute boat ride, you’ll arrive at the whale shark area. Here, you’ll snorkel and swim with the whale sharks, with two people per turn, always accompanied by a certified guide. The aim is to enter the water twice, though this depends on sea conditions, the number of sharks, and your swimming abilities. The whale sharks are not trained or caged, and you are visiting them in their natural environment. We do not feed them, so while sightings are not guaranteed, our success rate is high.

The primary aim of our expedition is to locate and swim with the whale sharks. While our team puts in their maximum effort to accomplish this, do keep in mind that this takes place in the creatures’ natural surroundings, not a controlled park. They are not domesticated or confined, and we are guests in their home. We do not feed them either, so there’s no certainty that we will encounter the whale sharks, even though our success rate is high.
