Isla Mujeres is not only home to some of the top beaches in the world, but it is also blessed to be one of the destinations with the highest whale shark migrations on the planet. In other places in the world you might have to search for days to spot just one whale shark, whereas in Isla Mujeres you are almost guaranteed to spot multiple whale sharks, ranging from a few to a hundred any given day during season (May-September). These gentle giants migrate near Isla Mujeres once a year where the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea meet, following the plankton that they feed on, and if you’re lucky you’ll also get a chance to swim with the giant manta rays that often appear alongside them.

Saw everything and more and food was amazing - Amazing time better people. Food was amazing saw so many fish. Made the food fresh on the boat. Had everything we needed wet suits, life jackets, food any drink. Awesome time.

Absolutely amazing - We had an amazing time. Truly a once in a lifetime experience. Our captain was very friendly and knowledgeable and found the sharks so fast.

- This was the most incredible experience!! Angel and Walter were excellent captains and guides. They taught us how to safely and respectfully swim with the whale sharks in their beautiful ocean habitat. It was a once in a lifetime experience. Walter was especially great helping the kids feel safe in the water and getting a great view. The GoPro footage the guides captured was fantastic.
Our lunch stop included fresh ceviche which was the best I've ever had. The water was an unbelievable shade of teal and the captains knew the best spots to check out.
We then snorkeled at a reef off Isla Mujeres that had a ton of fish and coral.
It was such a a fabulous experience, we went again with Angel and Walter two days later! The second day was just as magical as the first. Both days we also saw turtles and dolphins.
I would recommend Isla Spirit Adventures to anyone who wants to swim with whale sharks! They were amazing!!

Awesome adventure- Great folks! - Great Company. Loved Capt. Angel’s ability to get us close in and lived Walters’s ceviche and photos! The boat ride out to the area CAN BE ROUGH, so be sure to take their advice and take Dramamine the night BEFORE your trip.

Day late Next day great - Trip cancelled after a long wait at hotel. They took me next day. Swam with whale sharks up really close! Great experience.

Whale sharks, snorkel, beach day - We had an AMAZING day!! Our guides were so kind and friendly. We saw whale sharks, dolphins and all kinds of beautiful fish. The ceviche and guac when we got back to the beach were delicious! Extremely happy with our trip. Highly recommend using Isla Spirit. You will not regret it!

Amazing experience! - First of all, let me just say that Kristen from Island Spirit Adventures is a wonderful tour operator. I chose her company based on all of the fantastic reviews and she absolutely lived up to her stellar reputation. We actually had a slight mixup due to us changing the original date of our excursion and missed our boat. But within minutes, Kristen had arranged for us to board another boat and we were on our way. Not only that, but upon our return to the island, she personally showed up at our hotel to refund our money for the original booking. And in addition, she even treated me and my companion to a wonderful dinner that evening. She is an extremely gracious person as well as being super knowledgeable about the area and its history. I can’t recommend her highly enough and am very much looking forward to booking future tours with her. And as for the actual whale shark excursion, it was awesome! Swimming with these creatures up close is an incredible experience. They are truly majestic and will leave with memories of a lifetime! And the crew was exceptional. They were very professional and ensured we all had a safe and exciting adventure. So thanks again Kristen for the perfect day!

Best day ever - My husband and I had the most memorable day swimming with these magnificent creatures. Kristen made our trip easy from the start by coordinating with on taxi driver to pick us up. This was so helpful, especially since we were staying in a more remote part of Isla Mujeres. Alfredo, our driver, was so kind and even took us to the pharmacia before so we could buy sunscreen. Our guide, Hucime, was knowledgeable, kind, spoke great English, and made the best cerviche with snapper he caught himself. Our captain, Uriel, was skilled and coordinated well with Hucime to make sure we were able to swim with multiple whale sharks while still being respectful to their environment and the other guide boats and swimmers. He also crafted the beautiful pina pictured in our lunch photo and took our photos. I think that this tour often has a photographer that will take photos in the water too, but he was not with us on this day. We were 2 of 4 passengers, so we had ample time to swim with the sharks and we went in 3 separate times. Swimming with these gentle giants is breathtaking!! After our tour with the sharks, we were able to swim at playa norte, drink cervazas, have lunch, and relax. The crew arranged our return transportation at the end of the tour as well. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!!!! One word of caution: the boat ride can be choppy, and the other passengers did get seasick after we stopped out in the open water. If you are prone to this, you may want to think twice before you drink too much tequila the night before. Or take Dramamine?

Whale Shark adventure is a must while in Isla Mujeres! - This adventure was incredible! I booked it for my wife and I and we had a blast. The staff is amazing and had us covered from taxi pickup in the morning at our Airbnb to drop off at the pier. The crew on the boat were the best. Uriel the captain and Husim the guide made our trip out there so fun and treated us well. They had a videographer/ photographer Malek who took pictures and videos of us that are awesome. I highly recommend this adventure. Fresh made ceviche on the boat was a plus as well!
