Experiential - It was excellent. My first opera, and what a treat to see it so up close. Beautiful location, and talented performers.

Great introduction to Opera - This is a great introduction to Opera. My nephew loved it. The performance was awesome. The location is very easy to get to. Use the vaporetto and is real quick walk from it.
Quick helpful hint for folks, seating is free for all, so earlier the better, and then between acts to the next room be one of first if want best seats. Regardless it amazing!

Wow, utterly amusing - It was amazing, went to see the Barbiere di Siviglia, they are so talented and very amusing. A cast that was truly professional. Yes we had some problems getting there as Google did not guide us well, and yes the start time and waiting location is confusing (we went early and we weren't greeted at the door, so for a moment we were left with What is happening), but there is a sign and a doorbell, you just wait till someone comes down to greet you.
Will definitely go visit another performance, if not even the same again! Go early to expect the best seats, jump in front of you were before others, but expect to lose your seat once you move to the other rooms.
Truly enjoy,

A wonderful evening - Excellent experience. Setting was very appropriate. The 3 vocalists were superb, as were the three musicians. It was wonderful to be in such close proximity to the performers/artists. A wonderful evening.

Living Venice - Very nice experience for a first opera for my children of 11 and 12 years and a duration of 2 hours so perfect! Nice surprise also at intermission 😉. Very intimate atmosphere. Also we had to change the show date for my daughter who got sick. I thought I'd lose my tickets but they are shown very understanding. A big thank you

Beautiful addition to Venice trip - Took my mum to this and it was a highlight of our trip; beautiful setting, talented performers, a unique experience perfect for Venice. Venue entrance is hard to find, follow the given intructions and maybe scope it out beforehand. Arrive on time to secure better seats.

The musicians and singers were excellent. But there were other issues ... - I was very excited when I discovered this event. I loved the idea of seeing one of my favourite operas in such a beautiful and evocative setting, and persuaded my husband (not his thing!) that it was worth us spending the money. It was, by far, the most expensive thing we did during our few days in Venice.
Firstly I have to credit the 3 musicians - pianist, violinist & cellist for the excellent job they did. And I also want credit the 3 singers - Violetta, Alfredo, and his father - who were also excellent. (I have no idea who the musicians and singers actually were, unfortunately.)
However, I was disappointed to discover that there were only these 3 characters throughout the entire evening, plus a maid who ran in occasionally and mimed. To say that this was a truncated performance is an understatement, although at least all the truly fabulous arias were included, and were sung very well. With only 3 characters, there was a lot of the opera that was missed entirely. I don't remember seeing anything that warned me about this prior to my visit. (And no, I didn't expect a full-scale, large cast production, but I did think there'd be a bit more than this! The first act is supposed to be a large party!)
The worst thing, though, was the "organisation" of this event. Firstly they state doors open at 8pm. As the directions they provide make it clear that it's not that easy to find, we went along 30 minutes beforehand to ensure we knew where to go, and then went for a walk before coming back just before 8, to find the doors open and maybe 10 people already inside. More people arrived but we were not allowed beyond the entrance room. Eventually a girl told us to queue. My husband, having walked around most of the day, needed to sit down when we arrived, and by the time we joined the queue there were probably 30 people in front o us. Annoying enough, but then the girl only let in about 10 people at a time, with a long break before the next 10, and the next, and no explanation whatsoever. My husband was struggling with standing around like this, and I was worried we may not be able to stay for the performance at all. Eventually we were let through the door, only to find a LOT of steps - a minimum of 30-40! Despite the wait, we were left standing on the stairs for a few more minutes! Finally we were allowed into the performance space, but were required to fill in a form each, including name, address, email & date of birth! WHY??? (I thought we got GDPR because of the EU - but we didn't seem to have an option, and I still have no idea why they expected this information from us.) Needless to say, despite having arrived in really good time, we didn't manage to find particularly good seats for the first act. Oh, and despite saying everywhere that latecomers wouldn't be admitted, and with the tables (required for form filling!) having finally been removed, and curtains drawn across the entrance doors, and this being already 10 minutes late, suddenly they opened the doors to admit several people to event, so it began even later!
At the interval, we went to a different room for our drinks. We only saw Prosecco offered which was fine by us. After a while I noticed several people apparently purposefully moving back into the original room and turning towards a different direction. Nothing had been said, but when I suggested to my husband that we follow them as they may be going into the next room for the 2nd act, it turned out I was correct. So fortunately, we acquired decent seats for this act, and the 2nd room was by far the best room for everyone's view. After the 2nd act we were told there would be a short interval to allow us to move to a 3rd room. At this point there was a queue for the ONE toilet in the place and, not for the first time, various people were shoving to get to a good seat. I ended up on the side of this room which was, as were the previous rooms, a great location for the scene. However, it turned out that quite a lot of the action was in a deep alcove, on the same side as the 2 rows of seats I was in, which were set back away from the alcove, therefore most of us sitting there could barely see a thing. And the denseness of the other seating, facing the alcove, would have meant that beyond first 3 rows or so, it would have been hard to see as well.
The organisation of this could have been so much better. Let people up as they arrive would have been a good idea! And it would have been good to understand why they wanted so much information from us. And explain/announce everything as you go. (There were some announcements, in both Italian & English.)
The musicians and singers deserve 5 stars. The organisation 1 star. Hence my rating of 3.

Depends what you expect - Several people recommended an entertainment in Venice called “Musica a Palazzo,” a chamber opera staged inside a 15th-century palazzo. The concept alone sounded irresistible, and I was genuinely excited to go. I certainly don’t regret attending — Venice has a way of making even mediocre evenings memorable.
However, last night’s La Traviata, in my rather critical yet not at all professional opinion, hovered somewhere around a C+, occasionally drifting into what felt suspiciously like an overzealous street performance, albeit indoors and with chandeliers.
Perhaps my expectations were the real problem. I had imagined an evening of refined intimacy — subtle acting, emotional restraint, and the kind of delicate nuance that chamber opera promises. Instead, the performers seemed determined to ensure that no emotion went unannounced, unamplified, or — heaven forbid — understated.
From a distance of only a few feet, the theatricality became rather… transparent. One begins to notice things. Gestures grow grander, sighs deeper, passions louder. At one point I nearly leaned forward and whispered, “Darling, your fake mustache has come off.”
In short, while the setting is undeniably charming and the concept appealing, the performance lacked the intimacy and emotional subtlety one hopes for in chamber opera. As it so often happens in Venice — and in life — expectations can occasionally exceed reality.
