The shore excursion pick-up in Naples will meet you at the designated location. Here, introductions will be made, and then the journey will commence towards Sorrento along the renowned “Costiera Amalfitana” or “The Amalfi Coast” road.

Sorrento

The first stop is Sorrento. To reach this international city, one must travel the coastal road to its end. As the Amalfi coast road emerges from the mountain cliff, breathtaking views of the entire Gulf of Naples and the island of Capri (once connected to Sorrento) are unveiled. A brief drive through the city leads to the center, a vital commercial hub for locals and tourists, featuring numerous shops (typically open from 09:00-13:00 and 16:00-20:00). Despite its historical roots, Sorrento offers the intriguing “Correale di Terranova” museum, which can be visited in the morning with a stop of about 2 hours.

Positano

From Sorrento, it takes approximately 45 minutes to reach Positano. The drive descends directly through Positano, along a unique one-way street with panoramic views, passing many local restaurants, and leading to the bustling central Piazza dei Mulini. Here, cars must be left behind as all roads to the promenade are pedestrian-only. These paths also lead to the cathedral, shops selling ceramics, lemons, shoes, and “Positano fashion” clothing. A short uphill walk returns you to the car, and then it’s back up the mountain to the main coastal road leading to Amalfi.

Upon reaching the tour’s destination, it’s the perfect time and place to enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of the many typical restaurants along the route. Continuing along the coastal road, which starts after Sorrento, crosses Positano, and passes through the fishing villages of Praiano, Furore, and Conca dei Marini, you arrive at the bustling square of Amalfi, located by the sea-port and a long stretch of pebble beach. Opposite the Amalfi port is the only bus station along the coast. Behind this square is Amalfi’s main shopping street, ending at the city’s farthest and highest point. Along the pedestrian street are various bars and cafes, as well as numerous shops selling limoncello, casual wear, swimwear, gifts, basic groceries, and ceramics. For those interested in more than shopping, Amalfi offers fascinating sites to explore: the most spectacular cathedral along the coast, the paper factory, and its museum. An uphill walk along a very narrow road passes several wineries and olive factories.

Amalfi

After visiting Amalfi, the journey continues to Ravello, a rural UNESCO heritage village perched atop the mountain cliff above Amalfi and Minori. Ravello is renowned for its stunning views, natural beauty, and ancient monuments, best showcased in the gardens of Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo. During high season, these gardens are filled with blooming flowers, shades of flora, and the scent of lemons. Many classical music concerts are held in the gardens of Villa Rufolo, located just off Ravello’s main square. Besides the main cathedral in the square and a history museum in the cathedral’s basement, there are many other churches to explore, as there were once 13 churches in the area. Along the narrow arcades of Via Roma, you’ll find small boutiques and souvenir shops.
