There are "Musts" and then there is this! - Of all the activities we did while in Italy for 10 days, this was ranks right up there along with our boat tour of Amalfi as the Top 2. First, the tour operator is outstanding, I had my phone stolen the night before but he was able to provide a work around so that my son and I could continue with the adventure. Second, the tour operator has gone to great lengths to make this as exciting as possible- he put much thought into the planning. First, you roll out of the city, which might be a little nerve racking at first, but you get the handle on things quickly, as long as you don't try to be like all those other scooter drivers weaving in and around traffic. He picks the most efficient route through the valley to get you out to the Chianti region; read further because the return route is EPIC! Once you get into the little town with its beautiful little square, the app sends you to a safe place to park the Vespa, which is maybe a 2 minute walk back into the square. Once in the square you have all the time you need to have coffee and a snack, shop, and just people watch in this idyllic quaint little square just teeming with history. You can either walk or get back on your Vespa to the next stop for lunch. The restaurant is phenomenal in their service and attention they pay to you. The restaurant owner came out to the road to greet us. And the food was equally impressive. The tour operator has been working with this restaurant owner for many years for this trip, and it really works. Once seated, he advised to "Relax, you still have much time left in your day". And then he asks "Do you want me to go out and check on the battery charge on the Vespa?" Wow, that's service. Once your belly is full you are now ready for the epic return route... You head out of town and up into the hills where you get this amazing panoramic view of the entirety of the Chianti region. Villas and vineyards for as far as the eye can see. The route then takes you through meandering little roads that weave in and out of every thing you would want to see in a wine region. One of your last turns leads you down a beautiful tree lined avenue where your heart breaks as you know you are entering the city. As you make your way back to the shop, your tour host will be out there with a big smile on his face as he wants to hear all your stories from the day. This a 10 stars out of 5 adventure- do it.

Great tour, however... - Great tour, however highly recommend being comfortable driving a vespa. My only major recommendation is to take the time to completely map out the whole navigation and pay attention to all the turns. But in all great experience.

Fun and informative - Fun and informative, riding the wasp is a unique experience! The landscapes are beautiful, and the driving is safe and quiet. Motorcycles are electric, and they don't make noise.

Wonderful itinerary across Tuscany! - We had a lot of fun during our tour through the magnificent Chianti region! Driving the Vespa it's pretty easy and gives the possibility to admire amazing sceneries. The included lunch was fantastic, super tasty! Before starting the experience, the staff gave us practical support and showed us how to handle the scooter, they were really kind. Choose this activity, you won't be disappointed!

Disappointing and overpriced - First of all, the app did not appear to work on our iPhones. Instead, we were forced to use Google Maps, so we don't know if we followed the right route. The route lacked fun highlights and viewpoints along the way. Also the stops that were planned, were absolutely not special. We had the feeling that we might as well have visited these places with our own car. In our opinion, the €178 for two people is therefore too much money for what we got. The tour offered little added value compared to simply renting a Vespa for the day. However, the included lunch was very tasty! To make things worse, we had to deal with an accident where the scooter fell. This resulted in some damage, which of course we just pay. But we were very shocked when we heard that the rental company would charge us a whopping €590. Frankly, we can't imagine the damage would cost that much. Moreover, the employee tried to comfort us by saying that we were not the only ones with damage that day. This is disturbing information that really makes you think about renting a scooter. The risk of damage seems to be enormous, and the price they charge for it is disproportionate. All in all, the 'Self-guided Vespa tour of the Chianti region with lunch' was a big disappointment. The lack of a functioning app, the boring route without highlights and the high cost of damage make this a very pricey getaway with little bang for your buck.
