- Convento de San Antonio de Padua - This is one of the most significant and magnificent structures in Mesoamerica. Situated on the highest hill in the city of Izamal, it can be accessed via one of three ramps on its sides. The main ramp is a single piece, culminating at the top with a stunning and unique gate that leads to a rectangular atrium with 75 arches, covering an area of 7,806.43 m². This makes it more than half the size of the entire property, making it the largest enclosed atrium in the Americas, second only to St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican.
- Piramide de Kinich Kak Moo - This is one of the most significant structures in Mesoamerica, with a base measuring 200 m by 180 m and the height of the upper temples exceeding 34 m. Constructed around 400-600 A.D., it likely covers much older structures, forming the northern boundary of Izamal’s great plaza.
- Izamal Municipal Market - Izamal offers a culinary delight with its Yucatecan cuisine, full of charm and wonder. The market or a fine restaurant provides an opportunity to indulge in the exquisite mestizo flavors of the region: beans with pork, chaya with egg, chicken stew, stuffed cheese, salbutes, panuchos, papadzules, longaniza, cochinita pibil, joroches, mucbil pollo, pimes, and tamales are just a few of the dishes to savor, accompanied by xtabentun, balché, anise drink, pozol with coconut, or a refreshing horchata.
- Izamal - Izamal continues to be a pilgrimage site in the state of Yucatán, now for the veneration of Roman Catholic saints. Several statues of saints in Izamal are believed to perform miracles. An early colonial statue of the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception (“Our Lady of Izamal”) is especially revered and is the patron saint of the state.
The Yucatec Maya language is spoken as frequently as Spanish in Izamal. It is the primary language in most homes, and most signs are bilingual.
- Selva Maya - This hidden treasure is nestled in the Yucatan Peninsula, located in the historic Selva Maya Hacienda. Here, the tranquility and serenity of the jungle blend harmoniously with visitors, creating a perfect oasis to escape the daily hustle and bustle and immerse oneself in the enchanting beauty of nature.
