- Tarihi Asansör - Asansör is a historic building located in İzmir’s Karataş neighborhood, within the metropolitan district of Konak. Constructed in 1907 by a wealthy Jewish banker and trader of the time, Nesim Levi Bayraklıoğlu, it was designed to facilitate access from the narrow coastline of Karataş to the hillside. The elevator within the building was used to transport people and goods across the steep cliff separating the two parts of the neighborhood. Over time, the small street leading to the building also became known as Asansör Street. In the 1940s, the street was home to the singer Darío Moreno, who later gained fame. The building was recently restored and has since become one of İzmir’s landmarks. The street was renamed Darío Moreno Street in honor of the singer. Today, the top of Asansör hosts one of the most renowned restaurants in İzmir.
- Kemeraltı Market - Kemeraltı is a historic market (bazaar) district in İzmir, Turkey, and remains one of the city’s most vibrant areas. The bazaar originally developed around a long street, known in medieval times as the Street of the Mevlevis, due to the presence of a “dergah” (a building for Sufi brotherhood gatherings). In the 17th century, the street was filled in, allowing the bazaar to expand. Today, the street, now called Anafartalar Street, curves to complete the circle of the shallow inner bay.
- Smyrna Agora Ancient City - The Agora of Smyrna, also known as the Agora of İzmir, is an ancient Roman agora located in Smyrna. Initially built by the Greeks in the 4th century BC, it was destroyed by an earthquake in 178 AD. Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius ordered its reconstruction. Excavations began in 1933. In 2020, the Agora of Smyrna was designated a Tentative World Heritage Site as part of “The Historical Port City of Izmir.”
