- Brahma Temple - After visiting Ajmer, the journey continues to Pushkar, approximately 8 miles away.
Legend has it that Pushkar was created when Lord Brahma, the Creator, dropped a lotus flower (pushpa) from his hand (kar) onto the earth. At the three locations where the petals fell, water miraculously emerged in the desert, forming three small blue lakes. On the shores of the largest lake, Brahma is said to have gathered around 900,000 celestial beings – the entire Hindu pantheon. During the auspicious full-moon period of October and November, its waters are believed to purify the soul of all impurities, attracting pilgrims from across the nation. Like many markets in Rajasthan, the Pushkar market is a vibrant blend. It offers a wide range of items from small souvenirs to exquisite leather bags and boots, unique silverware and jewelry, to colorful lamp shades and clothing. From Pushkar, the journey returns to Jaipur.
