City Palace of Jaipur - The City Palace is nestled within the old city, near Hawa Mahal. It is a grand fusion of traditional Rajput and Mughal architecture, occupying nearly one-seventh of the Pink City. Originally constructed by Maharaja Jai Singh II, the complex features a series of courtyards, expansive gardens, and buildings. It houses several palatial structures such as the Chandra Mahal (residence of the current Maharajah of Jaipur), Mubarak Mahal (home to a textile museum), Diwan-e-Khas (Hall of Private Audience with the world’s two largest silver vessels, noted in the Guinness Book), Diwan-e-Aam (Hall of Public Audience), and the Ridhi Sidhi Pol gateway (with four small doorways adorned with motifs representing the four seasons). Foreigners: Rs 700; valid for 2 days, includes entry to Jaigarh Fort and Royal Cenotaphs, but excludes entrance to Chandra Mahal.

Jantar Mantar - Jaipur - Jantar Mantar is located in the heart of historic Jaipur, opposite the City Palace. This UNESCO World Heritage site is the largest of five astronomical observatories built by Maharaja Jai Singh between 1727-1734 in North India. The observatory comprises fourteen major geometric devices (or yantras in Hindi) for measuring time, predicting eclipses, tracking stars in their orbits, determining the declinations of planets, and calculating celestial altitudes. Signage provides detailed explanations for each device’s use, and guides are available to offer the same information in a more accessible format.

Royal Gaitor Tombs - Situated at the foothills of Nahargarh, Royal Gaitor is a tranquil site. It features the magnificent cenotaphs of Maharaja Pratap Singh, Madho Singh II, and Jai Singh II. The stone monuments are intricately carved and beautifully presented. Maharaja Jai Singh II’s cenotaph is the most impressive, with a marble dome supported by 20 carved pillars. This hidden gem of Jaipur offers a peaceful retreat. A Ganesh temple is located atop the ridge near the Royal Gaitor.
