A Spirited Start at Appleton Estate

Our Jamaican adventure began with a visit to the renowned Appleton Estate, a place that has been crafting some of the finest rums for over 270 years. As a family travel writer, I was eager to see how this experience would cater to both adults and kids. The tour was surprisingly engaging for all ages. We learned about the intricate distillation process, and the kids were fascinated by the machinery and the history behind it. Of course, the highlight for the adults was the rum tasting. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the friendly barman, Floyd, who encouraged us to carve our names into the wooden structure. The kids loved leaving their mark, and it was a fun way to remember our visit. The bar’s laid-back vibe was infectious, and we spent the afternoon sipping on tropical drinks while the kids played in the shallow waters around the bar.
