• YS Falls - As you depart from your hotel towards Jamaica’s south coast, you might wonder about the journey ahead. The adventure truly begins as you ascend the mountains and pass through quaint farming villages where the locals, who are industrious, humble, and friendly, live off the land. They will greet you with waves as you pass by. Remember to bring your cameras for those memorable vacation photos, as you travel through picturesque hills and valleys, navigating through agricultural areas and historic towns established during the plantation era, primarily by the British. The drive to the south coast takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Be sure to ask your tour guide about the variety of local fruits and the famous peppered shrimp when you reach Middle Quarters, also known as “Shrimp Country.”

After an enjoyable ride and a delightful local experience, you will arrive at YS Falls. Upon checking in, you will board a tractor jitney for a 10-minute ride through the 2,600-acre property leading up to the falls. The YS Falls estate is home to horses, cattle, and impressive guango and mango trees. You will be captivated by the lush, green landscape with crystal-clear water flowing through the forest. At YS Falls, you can immerse yourself in the 100% natural pools and cascades, swing on Tarzan ropes, swim, and more. It is an ideal spot for a romantic escape or a break from the bustling resort atmosphere. Don’t miss the opportunity to try the Zipline Canopy or Tubing while you’re there (additional costs apply for ziplining and tubing). Your visit to YS Falls will last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, after which you will proceed to Black River for a stop at the Riverside Dock, where a local lunch buffet awaits. The lunch includes steamed vegetables, rice & beans, and fried chicken/stewed beef.

• Black River - What a remarkable day it has been so far! Now, at the Riverside Dock, you will enjoy lunch. Following lunch, you will meet your Safari Tour Guide, who is knowledgeable and well-prepared, eager to take you on an exciting journey up the Black River. Here, you will learn about the Black River and its wildlife, including endemic bird species, crabs, and rare or endemic plants such as water lilies. North American crocodiles and Tarpans also inhabit the Black River. Have your cameras ready as your Safari Captain calls the crocodiles, feeds them chicken meat, and even pets them. No, your tour guide isn’t crazy; they have a fantastic relationship with their safari friends and are excited to share their expertise with you! You might even spot local fishers snorkeling in the river, collecting crab traps, or spear fishing among the crocodiles and other wildlife. And no, they’re not crazy either! It’s simply a way of life!

After an incredible experience at YS Falls and the Black River Safari, it will be time to return to your hotel or pickup point.
