City tour - This was an outstanding tour. Pick up was easy and on time. Oscar was a great host. We went to a tequila tasting at a distillery and had some really good tequila. Saw a butterfly sanctuary and had tacos there then went to the beach for a couple of hours. Well worth the money.

A taste of all the places you'll like to return to. - This tour is perfect to give a taste of what you will discover for yourself later with more time. It presents and explains the major sites and shows the biological center of butterflies and the tequila factory then 2 hours to the beach. The guide is adorable and very convenient to pick you up and drop off with the bus. I recommend!

Pleasantly Unexpected - We booked this tour expecting to be going to another butterfly exhibition. We realized we were going in a different direction and arrived to a place that was very remote. There were other stops along the way ( a jewelry store and tequila distillery) which were nice and informative, but it was the butterflies that we came to see. We’ve been to other butterfly exhibits but this one was different and special. We’ve learned about the butterfly, its life cycle, but most importantly, conservation efforts being made to preserve and even increasing the population. Aricelli was very know and shared with us that she is seeking her masters degree to further her knowledge and experience to continue this important work. So were we disappointed that it was not what we expected? Absolutely not. It’s important to know how to conserve and protect these important creatures.

Good and bad, but great value - Best value in PV at $29 Canadian! We were coming from Bucerias and we're late for the pick up. Our guide messaged us and we made arrangements to meet at the first step-- the jewelry store. We didn't go in so I don't know if it was just a store or a place where the also made it. The tequila tasting was super fun, with different flavors of tequila. Next was the butterfly place which was magical. I wish I had known we were going to a restaurant so I could be better prepared. The beach was nothing special and could easily been missed altogether. All in all, some great things, a couple of not great things, but a fabulous value at $29!!

Didn’t get to go. Ruined the last day of our vacation. - Waited for 45 minutes to get picked up and after calling them to ask what happened. They told me they looked all over for us and couldn’t find us. I don’t think they tried that hard.

Not to recommend!!! - A miserable ride! Times that weren’t kept, so a lot of waiting that made us miss our cruise ship! Visiting a jeweler is not a tourist attraction and let alone Butterfly garden which was a small area with black net (read cage) with some small pots with some half-scratch plants and like 5 butterflies!!! River restaurant had a small thin watercourse with rippling water that looked mismanaged, but the food was good. If there was time, we would stop at the famous statues along the promenade but of course we didn’t have time to do so these were seen halfway obscured from the bus that drove a block from the promenade!?!? The beach we were driven to was okay but no more. This “tour” is absolutely not recommended!!!

Pass on this tour. - Skip this tour. It's all about selling you items. The loading process took over an hour. The bus was supposed to pick us up at noon, but didn't arrive until 12:15 pm. At 11:45, we got a text from the driver saying, "I'll be there in 5 minutes. That would have been 11:50, not 12:15. The bus is open-air and it because it was nice out, the bus ride was not too hot. I would not take this tour in that bus in the summer when it is hot and humid. The first stop was a jewelry store, where you are herded through the store with staff everywhere, like we are all thieves. It was uncomfortable. The only good part of this stop was the free margarita. Next, we drove through downtown Puerto Vallarta to Mismaloya and stopped at a tequila factory for a tequila tasting. The staff here was very nice, but after sampling some tequila, they wanted you to buy overpriced tequila. I think I saw one person in our tour group buy a bottle of tequila. At this stop, they take your order for lunch at the butterfly exhibit. It was expensive, tourist-priced food, and we decided to skip lunch because we wanted street food at the beach. We asked our guide if food was available at the beach and he said now, which was a blatant lie. There was all kinds of food for sale at the beach and on the walk to the beach. There were restaurants and a bar at the beach. There were also massages available. The butterfly portion of this tour is a complete joke. There were hardly any butterflies and they were all mostly the same kind. I think we saw two different species and that was it. The problem here was that we stayed here WAY too long, which made our time at the beach way too short. The stop at the butterfly exhibit needs to be shortened by a lot. This is also where everyone had lunch, but even with lunch, it should not take that long at that stop. At the butterfly exhibit, there is a small river you can take a quick dip in and hammocks to lay on. If you want to see a good butterfly exhibit, go to Mariposario at C. Golondrina 60, Campo Verde, 48290 Puerto Vallarta. It is 100 times better. This was an inexpensive tour, but I cannot recommend it. The jewelry store stop should be completely removed, but I suspect the tour company gets a kickback from the jewelry store. I can't think of any other reason why they would stop there. The tequila factory was not functioning, and it appeared that it was more of a museum than an actual functioning tequila factory. There was no bottling area that we saw, so we believe it was all faked just to sell overpriced tequila. It appears most of the tours in Puerto Vallarta follow this same game plan. Get you on a bus and take you to places that want to sell you overpriced items. You would be better off taking the city bus for 10 pesos to Mismaloya beach or even a water taxi to enjoy a day at the beach. Otherwise, you will be on a tour bus for too long, going to places where they want you to spend money. It's not what we wanted to do. The tour guide was very friendly, so we did tip him. After all, he's only doing his job. Read the description and know that this is mostly a shopping tour.
