Hamdeok Beach - As you stroll along Jeju Olle Course 19, you’ll encounter Hamdeok Beach, a place with an emerald gem. Situated in Hamdeok-ri, Jocheon-eup, Jeju-si, it’s also known as ‘Hamdeok Seoubong Beach’ due to the presence of Oreum (Seoubong Peak) nearby. Just 20km from Jeju Airport, arriving here feels like stepping into another world. The entrance greets you with tall palm trees, and the emerald sea contrasts beautifully with the white sand. The clear water and white waves make even the sand and seaweed appear transparent. Among Jeju Island’s many beaches, Hamdeok Beach, along with Hyeopjae Beach and Gimnyeong Beach, is renowned for its stunning sea color. The water is crystal clear and shallow, making it an ideal summer destination for families. The beach’s west side is connected by an overpass, allowing you to walk over the sea.

Seongsan Ilchulbong - Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone, a prominent Jeju landmark, was formed around 5,000 years ago from an underwater volcanic eruption. It’s particularly famous for sunrise views, considered one of Jeju Island’s top ten scenic wonders. Besides sunrise viewing, Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone is a fantastic trekking destination. The Seongsan-Ojo Trail links two villages by crossing the peak, while the Jijil Trail offers a closer look at the UNESCO-designated geopark and Jeju’s local culture. Walking these paths is highly recommended to fully experience the area; reaching the summit provides views of the vast volcanic crater and the surrounding blue ocean. To complete your visit, head to Seongsanpo Port to watch haenyeo (female divers) in action.

Jeongbang Waterfall - Seogwipo, encompassing Jeju’s southern half, enjoys abundant sunshine and warm temperatures, attracting tourists year-round. A popular attraction is Jeongbangpokpo Falls, one of Jeju Island’s top three waterfalls. The water cascades 23 meters straight down into a pool before flowing to the sea. Behind Jeongbangpokpo Falls, you’ll find Waljong Art Gallery, dedicated to Korean artist Lee Wal Jong, who settled in Jeju decades ago. The gallery showcases his inspiring artworks, capturing Jeju’s beauty uniquely. Its strategic location and glass-walled second floor offer visitors a stunning sea view.

Oedolgae - Oedolgae, the starting point of Jeju Olle Trail Course 7, is a 20m high stone pillar rising from the sea. Standing alone, it’s named ‘Oedolgae’ and is also known as ‘General Stone’ and ‘Grandma Rock.’ Legend has it that General Choi Yeong adorned this rock like a general during a battle against the Yuan Dynasty, causing the enemy’s downfall. For the origin of ‘Grandma Rock,’ read the legend below. Beyond the visible rocks, you can glimpse the life of Jeju’s sea people. These stone pillars are believed to have formed during a volcanic eruption. A chimney-shaped stone pillar, where surrounding rocks erode by waves, leaving only strong rocks, is scientifically termed a sea stack. Pine trees naturally grow atop Oedolgae, creating a picturesque scene. Depending on your viewpoint, it presents a different appearance, showcasing nature’s beauty.

Yongmeori Coast - Yongmeori Coast derives its name from its resemblance to a dragon diving into the ocean with its head raised (‘Yong’ means dragon and ‘Meori’ means head in Korean). Yongmeori is a sandstone bed formed by layers of sand deposited over tens of millions of years. The coast’s mysterious scenery leaves visitors in awe. At the coast’s base is a Hamel Monument, established by the Embassy of the Netherlands and the Korean Foundation on April 1st, 1980, to strengthen diplomatic ties between Korea and the Netherlands and commemorate Hendrick Hamel’s dedication and hard work.

Handam Coastal Trail - Handam Beach stretches along the coastline from Aewol-ri Village, at Jejudo Island’s northwestern edge, to Gwakji Gwamul Beach. Jeju Special Self-Governing Province developed this beach in 2001 as part of a coastline improvement plan to offer islanders and tourists diverse ocean enjoyment opportunities. The plan prioritized harmony with the surrounding view. A 1.2km winding trail, paved along the beautiful coastline, was designed to be as close to the ocean as possible. This popular spot allows visitors to enjoy a relaxing walk along the vast blue ocean. In July 2009, Jeju-si designated 31 sites representing Jejudo Island, and Handam Beach was chosen as one of these 31 hidden Jeju-si views.
