• Manjanggul Cave - This is the largest known lava tube in the world, formed by volcanic activity. Visitors can experience the grandeur of this underground-like landscape. The Stone Turtle, which resembles Jeju Island, is a particularly popular attraction. If Manjanggul Lava Tube is closed (the first Wednesday of every month), the Jeju Haenyeo Museum serves as an alternative tour option.
• Seongsan Ilchulbong - This site is for photography tours only. Hiking is not allowed, and entry requires a ticket. Visitors can enjoy a women divers’ show at 2:00 PM. Known as ‘Sunrise Peak’, Seongsan Ilchulbong is a classic tuff cone formed by hydrovolcanic eruptions on a shallow seabed around 5,000 years ago. Located on Jeju Island’s eastern coast, it resembles a massive ancient castle, standing 182 meters high with a well-preserved bowl-like crater and diverse inner structures from the sea cliff.
• Seongeup Folk Village - This traditional village on Jeju Island has been preserved as it was in ancient times, featuring impressive stone piles designed to protect roofs from the wind. The buildings are designated as important folk relics, as these castles and homes, built to prevent a Japanese invasion, have remained intact since the Joseon Dynasty. Visiting the Folk Village is optional, and the Jeju Folk Village Museum is an alternative.
• Woljeongri Beach - Known for its picturesque scenery, Woljeongri Beach features tranquil white sand and a stunning emerald ocean. Nearby, charming and cozy cafes line the streets.
• Bijarim Forest - Bijarim Forest, located 5.5 km from Pyeongdae Elementary School, is the world’s largest single-species forest. This unique forest, home to 2,800 Torreyas aged 500 - 800 years, blocks the sky from view and is Jeju Island’s first forest park.
• Haenyeo Museum - The haenyeo women divers of Jeju Island were key contributors to the local economy through diving and farming, significantly aiding Jeju Island’s development. They symbolize industry and resilience, though often undervalued in society. The Jeju Haenyeo Museum was established to re-evaluate haenyeo culture and to document, preserve, and educate about their significant social, economic, and historical contributions.
• Sangumburi Crater - Best visited in October and November, Sangumburi Crater is an alternative to Seopjikoji during these months.
• The Ma Park - As the world’s first horse-themed park, Raon The Ma Park offers a permanent horse-riding performance, “Empire of Thousand Years. Oh! Goguryeo Dynasty”, based on Jumong, the founder of the Goguryeo Dynasty. The park also provides high-quality horse-riding facilities for all skill levels and various horse-related activities.
• O’sulloc Tea Museum - Opened in 2001 on Jeju Island, the Osulloc Tea Museum is Korea’s first tea museum. In 2013, the Osulloc Tea Stone was added, offering visitors diverse tea experiences and cultural activities.
• Sanbangsan Mountain - Sanbangsan, standing at 395 meters, is a typical dome-shaped, craterless volcano. Its name, Sanbang, comes from a natural stone cave in the mountain’s center. Inside the cave, known as Sanbanggulsa Temple, is a Buddha statue. Legend says water drops from the cave ceiling are tears of love from the goddess protecting Sanbangsan’s stone walls.
• Yongmeori Coast - Yongmeori Coast is a volcanic beach formed by ash from violent explosions when hot magma met cold seawater. A narrow path leads to the beach, where a sandstone cliff can be seen. Its name, Yongmeori, meaning dragon’s head, comes from its resemblance to a dragon poised to dive into the sea. Access may be restricted during high tides or bad weather. If closed, Mt. Songaksan is an alternative tour option.
• Songaksan Mountain - If Yongmeori Coast is closed due to high tides or bad weather, Mt. Songaksan serves as an alternative tour option.
• Cheonjeyeon Falls - Known as “The Pond of God,” Cheonjeyeon Falls consists of three sections. The area around the falls is home to diverse plant life, including the rare ‘solimnan’ reeds. To the east, a cave releases cold water from its ceiling, creating the first waterfall. The water collects in a pool, then cascades twice more, forming the second and third waterfalls before flowing into the sea.
• Jusangjeollidae - These cliffs were formed when lava from Mount Hallasan erupted into the sea, creating black columns of varying sizes and heights. The cliffs resemble charcoal and are a natural wonder. Photographing here requires patience due to the crowded platform.
