Travel from downtown (your accommodation) to Manjanggul Cave takes about 1 hour. This is the world’s largest known lava tube formed by volcanic activity. Visitors can marvel at the grandeur of the landscape, which feels like being inside an underground realm. The particularly exquisite Stone Turtle, resembling Jeju Island, is a popular attraction.
If Manjanggul Lava Tube is closed (the first Wednesday of every month), the Jeju Haenyeo Museum serves as an alternative tour option.
Duration: 60 minutes
From Manjanggul Cave to Woljeongri Beach: 15 minutes
- Jeju Stone Park - (Departing from JEJU Cruise Terminal or Jeju city):
Jeju Stone Culture Park is a historical and cultural space that showcases the stone culture, Seolmundae Halmang myth, and folk culture that are foundational to Jeju’s creation and human culture. The legend of Seolmundae Halmang, the goddess who created Jeju Island, and the five generals is depicted through various stone cultural relics and materials on the expansive 300,000 pyeong Gotjawal land.
The park was designed as a place where Jeju residents and tourists can directly experience and observe the lifestyle of Jeju residents through exhibitions. By highlighting Jeju’s identity, locality, and artistry, the park reveals Tamna’s formation process, mythology, history, and folk culture. The aim is to create a beautiful educational space organized by era to pass on to future generations, a vision the planner of Stone Culture Park has consistently upheld.
- Seongeup Folk Village - (Departing from JEJU Cruise Terminal or Jeju city or Seogwipo Gangjeong Cruise Terminal or Seogwipo City):
The entire village, preserving the living site of old Jeju’s people, is designated as an Important Folklore Cultural Heritage. Unlike typical folk villages, it is still inhabited today. Village residents volunteer as guides, providing visitors with a wealth of information. The Saw-leaf Zelkova and Japanese hackberry in the village center are noteworthy.
Visitors can also experience wearing Hanbok, a traditional Korean costume, at Jeju Folk Village.
- Seopjikoji - (Departing from JEJU Cruise Terminal or Jeju city or Seogwipo Gangjeong Cruise Terminal or Seogwipo City):
A short drive from Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak leads to Cape Seopjikoji. The name, from the Jeju dialect, means “Cape of Small Land” due to its unique cliff formation extending into the ocean. The scenic blend of hill and ocean attracts tourists year-round. Jeju ponies may be seen grazing on the grassy fields. Walking northeast along the cliff, visitors reach Bulgeunoreum Parasitic Cone, offering a stunning view of a white lighthouse against the dark blue sea. Other attractions at Cape Seopjikoji include the Glasshouse and Yumin Art Gallery, masterpieces by renowned architect Ando Tadao, which harmonize beautifully with the natural surroundings.
- Seongsan Ilchulbong - (Departing from JEJU Cruise Terminal or Jeju city or Seogwipo Gangjeong Cruise Terminal or Seogwipo City):
Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone, a prominent Jeju landmark, was formed around 5,000 years ago from a magma eruption on the ocean floor. It is especially renowned as a sunrise viewing spot, considered one of Jeju Island’s top ten scenic wonders. Besides sunrise views, Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone is a popular trekking destination. The Seongsan-Ojo Trail connects two villages by crossing the peak, while the Jijil Trail offers a closer look at the UNESCO-designated geopark and Jeju’s local culture. Walking these paths is recommended to fully experience the area; reaching the summit provides views of the vast volcanic crater and the surrounding blue ocean. To complete the visit, head to Seongsanpo Port to watch haenyeo (female divers) at work.
- Haenyeo Museum - (Departing from JEJU Cruise Terminal or Jeju city):
Jeju haenyeo are the resilient mothers and spiritual pillars of Jeju residents. Their community life is a model for humanity. Jeju haenyeo formed a merit-based community, making democratic decisions through discussions. They cared for the elderly and infirm, such as Halmang Badang and Geseok, and used their earnings to support society, including villages and schools. They also devised various methods to coexist with the sea, like beach sweeping, gold snatching, and dialysis. Jeju haenyeo culture was recognized for its value and registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on November 30, 2016 (local time).
- Hamdeok Beach - (Departing from JEJU Cruise Terminal or Jeju city):
Walking along Jeju Olle Course 19 leads to Hamdeok Beach, known for its emerald waters. Located in Hamdeok-ri, Jocheon-eup, Jeju-si, it is also called ‘Hamdeok Seoubong Beach’ due to Seoubong Peak standing nearby. Just 20km from Jeju Airport, the beach feels like a different world. Tall palm trees greet visitors at the entrance, and the emerald sea contrasts with the white sand. The clear water and white waves make even the sand and seaweed appear transparent. Among Jeju Island’s many beaches, Hyeopjae Beach, Gimnyeong Beach, and Hamdeok Beach are noted for their beautiful sea colors. The clear, shallow waters make it a great summer spot for families. The west side of the beach is connected by an overpass, offering additional experiences.
- Jeongbang Waterfall - (Departing from SEOGWIPO Gangjeong Cruise Terminal or Seogwipo city):
Jeongbang Falls is one of Jejudo Island’s top three waterfalls, along with Cheonjiyeon Falls and Cheonjeyeon Falls. It is the only waterfall in Korea where water cascades directly into the sea. The fall is 23 meters high, and the two streams of water create a thrilling sound and a stunning view as they descend the black cliff. The steep cliffs and ancient pine trees surrounding the fall create a picturesque scene, recognized as one of the Ten Scenic Sights of Yeongju, known as “Jeongbanghapok.” It is said that the words ‘Seobulgwacha’ are engraved on the cliffs of Jeongbang Falls.
- Oedolgae - (Departing from SEOGWIPO Gangjeong Cruise Terminal or Seogwipo city):
Oedolgae, the starting point of Jeju Olle Trail Course 7, is a stone pillar rising 20 meters from the sea. Standing alone, it is named ‘Oedolgae’. It is also known as ‘General Stone’ and ‘Grandma Rock’. Legend has it that General Choi Yeong decorated this rock like a general during a battle against the Yuan Dynasty, causing the enemy to self-destruct. The origin of the name ‘Grandma Rock’ is explained in a local legend. Beyond the visible rocks, the life of Jeju people waiting for the sea’s bounty can be observed.
