- Old City of Jerusalem - The tour begins in the Old City, where participants will receive a comprehensive briefing, covering a century of history from the late Ottoman era to the present. There will also be an overview of Israeli occupation and settlement activities in the Old City and the nearby Holy Basin.
The morning tour will highlight the significance of the Old City of Jerusalem to the three monotheistic religions while exploring some visible symbols of the Israeli Occupation, including Jewish settlements in the Christian and Muslim Quarters, with discussions on their history and impact.
- Western Wall - Next, a walking tour of the Old City will commence, entering through Damascus Gate amidst the lively markets, learning about the city’s division, and visiting various sites. The tour will include the Western Wall Plaza, located at the heart of the Old City, established over the site of the demolished Mugrabe neighborhood following the 1967 war. Participants will also learn about the Temple Mount’s and Al Aqsa’s significance in Judaism and Islam, and their centrality to the conflict.
- Jerusalem - After lunch, there will be another short briefing, followed by a drive to explore East Jerusalem settlements and Palestinian neighborhoods.
The tour will stop at several impressive lookout points, illustrating the stark contrasts between East and West Jerusalem, including modern office towers and highways in the West and unpaved roads and donkeys in the East. Participants will enjoy stunning panoramic views back to the Old City of Jerusalem.
The next segment of the tour follows the ‘seam line’ road dividing East and West Jerusalem, passing areas captured by Jewish forces in the 1948 War, where Palestinian residents were largely granted refugee status by the United Nations. Participants will observe Israeli settlements from that era and more recent developments.
- West Bank - The tour continues with a close-up view of the renowned West Bank Wall, also known as the Separation Barrier, which divides Arabs and Jews and, in many areas, Palestinian communities. This is an ideal time to learn about the wall’s construction, its effectiveness in preventing terrorism, and the surveillance of Palestinian residents.
- Ma’ale Adumim - The final stop offers a view of the Palestinian village of Anata, encircled by the Wall. Participants will learn about Ma’aleh Adumim, one of the largest settlements in the West Bank, and may visit the town’s outlying outposts, learning about the displacement of the local Jahalin Bedouin. Some lookout points provide breathtaking views of the Judean Desert and the ‘E1’ planning zone, slated for new settlement neighborhoods and tourist hotels.
